We met during college in the summer of 2015 while working at a Christian camp in Seymour, Indiana called SpringHill! Joey was a counselor for middle schoolers that summer and Erin was a lifeguard. We didn’t know each other super well that summer, but both remember when we first met at camp and had to impromptu plan a crazy fun skit together with some campers that was super quirky and memorable. We kept up a long-distance friendship after camp ended when Erin went back to Purdue and Joey to the Ohio State. We had learned at the end of camp that we had the same job at our colleges as Intramural Sports supervisors and after starting these jobs in the fall, decided to share fun stories related to that with each other which kept our conversations flowing along with always talking about faith and life happenings. We didn’t actually start dating until the spring of 2017, and we dated initially long distance and then living in the same areas until Joey proposed to Erin in the spring of 2023 while hiking at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis!

We became closer friends quickly after camp when we realized we had tons in common. Most importantly a strong love for the Lord, but also a passion for working with kids, serving others through different ministry roles, enjoying watching and playing sports, hiking and being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. We both became fans of each other’s sports teams of Purdue and the Ohio State, except when they played each other of course, and agreed to cheer against the rivals of IU and *ichigan. While we both moved around a lot in the 5-6 years after graduating college, we always made it a priority to support each other’s dreams and were willing to do whatever it would take to make that happen. Both of our families and friends have been amazing and incredibly supportive of all our crazy moves and life changes during that time, and we could not be more thankful for this.

We are so excited to celebrate our marriage with everyone and start on this new journey together!
