Over some office water cooler banter, Austin shared his vision of a perfect woman: someone who can hold a conversation, is an attentive listener, and emotionally intelligent. For lack of better words, he exclaimed, "I want to date a psychologist!" His co-worker paused and reflected, "I know the perfect woman for you!" as she pulled up Eryn's LinkedIn profile. Austin took one look at Eryn's headshot from a psychology conference taken ten years prior and thought "she's cute!" From there, phone numbers were exchanged, a date at Tavern on the Hill in Chestnut Hill was set, Eryn showed up in her work scrubs (jk, but he asked her to) and Austin took his last Septa bus as an eligible bachelor. On their second date, Austin invited Eryn to a comedy show and they enjoyed dumplings in Chinatown afterwards while sneaking sips of a beer they brought into the restaurant under the table. They later shared their first kiss on this date in the streets of Chinatown while a car drove by honking and cheering them on. Their third date was Austin's holiday party at Baker Tilly (heck yeah, free food and drinks!!) Between their mutual love of food, laughter, and non-traditional dates, the two developed an instant spark.
In February 2020, Eryn matched with her pre-doctoral internship in Minnesota. When she broke the news to Austin, he didn't even bat an eye and agreed to see the relationship through. The plan was to take the relationship in stride and see if long distance could work. Then, COVID happened. And in a strange turn of events, Austin could join Eryn in Minnesota while he worked remotely. This ultimately solidified their fate and they became inseparable.
About four years later, their lives brought them to live in Lewisburg, PA. On December 6, 2024, in the most Gilmore Girls-esque way possible, Austin proposed to Eryn under the gazebo in Huffenagle Park. She said yes.
