Ethan was born in Spain in 1990 and the Sacré family moved to France in 1991. Cathy & Jean-Marie (Ethan's parents) raised their kids around the world but ended up settling in the South of France in a village called Valbonne. This is a family picture taken in 1996! Maria José was born in Lima, Peru in 1991 and moved to US with her family in 1993. She is the youngest of three (Raul, Lorena, and Maria José). Mercedes and Raul (Papá) (Maria José's parents) started raising their kids in Miami but then settled on San Diego, California to be closer to Mercedes' family. We met through our friend Julia Michel... Ethan grew up with her in Valbonne, France and Maria José met her in San Francisco at SF State.

We became fast friends because of our mutual love of laughter and silliness and connection with Julia. Ethan moved to San Francisco in January 2013 for an internship which is when we officially started dating, but we kept it on the down low from everyone...

After 6 months, Ethan had to go back to finish his Bachelor's degree in the UK, but because they liked each other so much they decided to tough it out and continue going the distance...

After a year of doing long distance, Ethan officially moved back to San Francisco in August 2014. Maria José and Ethan were finally together again!

In 2015, Ethan became close friends with Maria José and Julia's college friend Matt Wesley

That same year, he invited us to be roommates in his house when we were struggling to find an affordable home in the city...

While living at Matt's place we became close friends with our buddy Jorge! We eventually left that house to live in a swanky apartment on Church and Market with him!

During that time we even had Ethan's youngest brother, Cassidy, living with us for a few months, which was awesome! We got to show him around SF and watch him perform live music at a few different venues!

After several years of saving up, Ethan and Maria José decided to go traveling to Southeast Asia for 5 months. We traveled through Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Japan..

We even saw Ethan's college friend, Matt Devlin in Japan!

We weren’t going to move back to SF, no plans to live anywhere only travel until December

Throughout our years that we have been here our friendship and community group has stayed consistent. (Julia and Héctor, Maria José's bud from college for more than 10 years!)

After living at Darin's we decided it was time for our own place!

The pandemic hit and locked us down...

Later that year a lot of changes happened..including a loooot of weddings, Like...Maria Jose's brother, Raul's wedding..

We also had our friends Héctor and Helen move into the apartment downstairs from us making our community of friends even closer

Back to the weddings though..We also went to Ethan's college friend, Matt Devlin's wedding...

One day..Ethan asked Maria José to go for a walk and he proposed!

She said “Are you sure?” He said “I kind of need an answer” She said YES!

They had a dinner with the families and got to planning their wedding!

Fast forward to now, where we can't wait to celebrate the next chapter of our lives with all of you! We are excited to dance, cry, eat, drink, and make more memories with you all in the city we fell in love in on May 24, 2025.
