For the most convenient wedding weekend experience, we recommend booking a stay at The Mills House at a discounted rate through our room block. In addition to being our reception venue, the Mills House is centrally located in downtown Charleston, just over a block from our ceremony venue and historic King Street. It's within walking distance from most of downtown's main attractions: Rainbow Row, Waterfront Park and the Pineapple Fountain, and the Old City Market to name a few. We recommend booking as soon as possible to ensure you receive our discounted rate. We're so excited to welcome you all to Charleston and hope you can get a taste of all our great city has to offer while you're here. There is no shortage of things to do, places to see, and delicious food and drinks to try while you're here!

Restaurants 

Charleston has one of the best dining scenes in the country-- we hope you get to try some of our favorites while you're here! We have plenty of suggestions, so feel free to reach out to us with any specific places/locations you have in mind. Here are some of our favorites: Downtown/On the Peninsula: Delaney Oyster House - One of our go-to places! So many delicious shareable plates, great fresh oysters, seafood, and a charming porch.Leon's - Delicious fried chicken and grilled oysters! Perfect lunch spot.Husk - Right across from the Mills House! Known for re-imagined southern with a focus on local ingredients.Chez Nous - A true culinary experience. Chef hand-writes daily-changing menus. We had dinner here before getting engaged!Poogan's Porch - Right across the street from the Mills House! They have a delicious brunch/breakfast menu and Carson's favorite shrimp and grits!Citrus Club - Rooftop bar at the Dewberry Hotel! Beautiful views of the city and a variety of cocktails.Fleet Landing - Great spot for seafood right on the Charleston harbor! James Island + Folly Beach: Bowen's Island - The best spot for a casual meal in a beautiful waterfront location.The Harlow - Our favorite neighborhood restaurant where you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Sullivan's Island + Isle of Palms:Obstinate Daughter - Great place for brick-oven pizza, pastas, and a variety of seafood. Reservations recommended.The Co-Op - Fun spot on Sullivan's to grab a sandwich and their famous frose on your way to the beach.Acme Oyster House - One of the best spots for local shrimp! Everything here is good.

Things to Do and See

Charleston's waterfront park and its famed "pineapple fountain" is located just a few blocks from our wedding venues. It's the perfect place for a scenic walk with views of the harbor, Castle Pinckney, and the Ravenel Bridge. See if you can spot any dolphins!

Waterfront Park

Iconic "Rainbow Row" is one of the most photographed spots in all of Charleston and is a must-see during your stay. Located near the battery on historic East Bay Street, Rainbow Row is right by some of the most beautiful and historic homes of the city.

The City Market has a wide variety of local artisans and vendors with just about everything you can imagine, including the famous sweetgrass baskets!

Take a walk along King Street and stop in some of the many local boutiques and high-end designers you'll find here.

King Street 

Charleston has three main beaches within a short drive of downtown: Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island, and Isle of Palms. The closest beach to downtown is Folly Beach, located just south of James Island, and is known for its surfing and shark tooth hunting. We recommend visiting the county park if you're looking to go! Most beach parking is full by 10:30am, so plan for an early beach trip or head out later in the afternoon.

Beaches

We highly recommend Bulldog Tours if you're interested in a ghost or history tour while you're here! They offer several different tours and locations, from the Old Charleston Jail to the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. We've done them all and have always enjoyed them! They also offer culinary tours of the city, historic walking tours, and bar crawls.

The South Carolina Aquarium is located downtown, right on the harbor. This is a fun place to spend a couple hours! Take a peek at their sea turtle triage center while you're there.

Take a guided ferry tour out to Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired at back in 1861! The Fort offers tours and has a museum and gift shop.
