Our story is special to us, spanning over 9 years and multiple states, and with many memories along the way.
We first met during undergrad at Penn State where Ryan was studying architecture and Fallon was majoring in English and public relations. We quickly hit it off and found ourselves talking with each other almost every day. Just as Ryan was returning to school for the spring semester after spending the fall studying abroad in Rome, Fallon was leaving PA to spend a semester in Orlando, FL with the Disney College Program.
Despite the distance, the sparks kept on flying. That spring break, Ryan met Fallon down in Orlando. We had our official first date watching the fireworks over EPCOT while sitting outside the Italy Pavilion (which, of course, made Ryan feel like he was right back in Rome!).
Once we were both back in PA, the adventures continued. During our final year of undergrad, we enjoyed concerts, football games and tailgates, and serving together on the same THON Photography committee. We supported and cheered one another on in finishing our thesis work, completing job and law school applications, and figuring out how Ryan was going to navigate around campus with a torn ACL and crutches.
Following graduation, Fallon remained in PA to earn her J.D. from Penn State Law, while Ryan embarked on a new job with an architecture firm in Macon, GA. After a few years of living the long-distance relationship life, we happily reconvened together in Virginia Beach, VA where we lived and worked for the next few years. We also adopted our dog Kaia, who’s brought even more love, energy, and comedic relief to our lives.
Although living at the beach was an absolute blast, we decided to make the move back home to PA. We’ve been loving it ever since!
We’re incredibly excited to begin this next new chapter together, and we can’t wait to celebrate with all of our favorite people so soon!
The proposal really took our journey full circle in such a perfect way! The first date we had when we were both back at Penn State was at the Arboretum. We had taken two wooden chairs out onto the lawn and sat out under the stars.
On Labor Day 2022, we were driving home after having such a fun long weekend visit Ryan's family in Erie, PA. Along the way, Ryan suggested we stop to see the Arboretum. We found those same wooden chairs from our first Penn State date and sat together under the pavilion, listening to the rain and reminiscing. Just as we were about to get up and leave, Ryan dropped to one knee and asked the question. Fallon's answer: "Ten thousand times yes!"
