Did you know Savannah is considered one of the most haunted cities in the U.S. because of its dark and layered history? The city is built on old burial grounds, faced deadly yellow fever epidemics, and saw tragedy during the Civil War. Many historic homes, cemeteries like Bonaventure, and sites like the Sorrel-Weed House and Moon River Brewing Company are known for ghost sightings. Add in pirate lore, Prohibition crime, and Gullah spiritual traditions, and you get a city full of eerie energy and ghostly legends.

Popular spots include the Tybee Pier, North Beach, and the historic Tybee Lighthouse.

Old Fort Jackson is Georgia’s oldest brick fort, built in 1808 to protect Savannah. It was active during the War of 1812 and the Civil War, especially under Confederate control. Today, it’s a historic site with cannon firings and exhibits on military life.
