Things to Do

Many of you will know that Mallorca is incredibly special to us. The Kitchens have been coming here since the '50s, and Freddie's paternal grandfather, John Kitchen, bought an apartment, 'Lord Jim', in Port de Pollença which is still our family's home from home today! Father of the Bride, Hugo, spent his childhood summers in Pollença, and Freddie has been coming every year since 6-weeks old! Freddie's parents, Carron and Hugo, also got married here in 1993. In short, a very special place, and we would love to share some of favourite our Mallorca experiences with you!

GOLF

We know there are a lot of golfers amongst you, and Mallorca will spoil you in this respect! Some recommended golf courses near Palma include: - Golf Son Vida - Golf Son Muntaner - Golf Son Quint - Golf Son Gual - T Golf Calvia - Club de Golf Alcanada (best in the North of the island)

SIGHTSEEING

Palma has an rich and varied history - it was established by the Romans, building on the remains of a settlement from the bronze age. After the Roman period, it was under the rule of the Byzantines and then the Moors. The city was conquered by James I of Aragon in 1229. The city was renamed Palma, and it also became the capital of the Kingdom of Mallorca. For Ian's fellow history nerds, we would highly recommend going to visit the Cathedral-Basilica de Santa Maria, Royal Palace of La Almudaina and Bellver Castle. Walk through the old town of Palma and you'll find old churches, hidden tapas bars and lots of places for a cold cerveza.

BEACHES

Being an island, you don't need to venture far to find sand and sea. Our favourite in the north is Formentor, but there are plenty around Palma, Deià and Sóller. Some of our favourite beach memories on the island have been discovering hidden coves and bays that are only accessible via boat. If boats are your cup of tea, we would absolutely recommend renting one (some small ones don't require a licence, and there are plenty of shared / charter options).

Port de Pollença

Our favourite place, and where we will be for a couple of weeks pre-wedding! If you are making a trip of it, we would love you to spend some time here. We'd recommend the Hotel Illa d'Or, Hotel Daina, or the nearby Son Brull (even if just for lunch!). You'll find us strolling along the Pine Walk, enjoying sundowners at the Illa d'Or or Lemon Lounge, and dinners at Hotel Bahia or The Stay. For glorious views and beach days, visit Formentor. Walk through the 12th century cobbled streets in Pollença Old Town and enjoy dinner at Trencadora or Onze!

OIL AND VINES

For the foodies (and drinkies) amongst you, Mallorca has lots of vineyards (e.g. Bodega Ribas, Macia Batle, Biniagual) and olive oil farms. A lovely way to spend a lunch time!
