Things to Do

Providence Place Mall

When Gabby and Alex were students at Providence College, many a night was spent at the Providence Place Mall. See where it all began, and be sure to indulge in the fine art of "sample surfing" (Alex's term) at the food court.

Federal Hill

Home to some of the best Italian food in the world (including Italy), Providence's Federal Hill is a must visit for first-timers and lifelong residents alike. Gabby and Alex recommend: Massimo, the Old Canteen, and Cassertas.

East Side of Providence

Visit world-renowned Brown University (not where Gabby and Alex went to school), the famous Rhode Island School of Design (also not where Gabby and Alex went to school), and stop by Baja's for a legendary burrito (but bring your pepto).

Hasbro Children's Museum

We don't have kids, so we don't know if this place is any good. It has "children" in the title though, so kids must like it, right?

Roger Williams Zoo

Roger Williams was a famous theologian, puritan minister, and advocate for the separation of church and state. Celebrate his legacy with a visit to... the zoo?

Newport

Home to extravagant mansions, the famous Cliff Walk, and some of Rhode Island's most beautiful beaches, Newport is the perfect option for a day trip. Rhode Islanders will warn you it's a "long" drive, so pack a lunch in case you get hungry on the road. If you're feeling adventurous, visit Brick Alley Pub and try their hot wings - They'll make you sign a waiver!

Sakonnet Vineyard

Located in the quaint farming community of Little Compton, Sakonnet Vineyards is the perfect place to spend an afternoon over a glass (or bottle?) of wine. If you stop by for lunch, get the chickpea burger.

Plymouth Rock

History meets beauty at the home of every Rhode Islander's least favorite elementary school field trip. Known as the site where the pilgrims first disembarked the Mayflower, the lore of this historical landmark slightly outweighs the reality, which is little more than a boulder in the ground. If you decide to visit, you'll have a rockin' time.

Boston

Bean Town, which for some reason is Boston and not Chicago, is a short drive away from Rhode Island. Enjoy the history of revolutionary New England, but, only if you can find somewhere to pahk the cah.
