Our Wedding

Gabriel and Alex both proudly serve their country! They are both in the United States Navy and are both stationed in Atsugi, Japan, just an hour away from Tokyo! Gabriel is a Master-at-Arms which involves him getting to shoot a lot of pew pew pew! Pretty cool right? On the other hand, Alex serves as a Logistics Specialist at a helicopter squadron where she is in charge of all necessary equipment is procured and received in order to make the helicopters fly! #CantFlyWithoutSupply It was the night of April 3, 2021 when fate would take its course. Gabriel was out with his friends at the local base restaurant. Alex was invited by a friend to come hang out with the gang, unbeknownst to her, this would be the night that would change her life. It was until Alex wanted to play a game of Air Hockey but she couldnt find the ON button. Gabriel comes out of nowhere and shouts I GOT IT! I GOT IT! With the biggest smile on his face. He definitely turned it on..the air hockey machine that is. It all fell into place after that. Gabriel asked Alex to play air hockey and the rest is history!

Although they may not always be down the street from each other, they will always be best of friends.

Wedding Party

Gabriel & Alex

La Vibora de La Mar (the Sea Snake Dance) is a song and dance where the bride and groom stand on chairs opposite one another and form an arch, which guests pass through while holding hands and dancing. The goal is to not break the snake formation, and that gets harder as the music gets faster. The dance represents the strength of the newly married couple as they prepare to face life's challenges. As soon as the groom is knocked down the dance stops.

One of the most hilarious and showy Mexican wedding traditions is a so-called “el muertito”. During the reception, male guests lift the groom over the shoulders of all and then toss him several times into the air. Sometimes, the guests take off his shoes and put money and gifts into them.

El Muertito (Tossing the groom)

The money dance (sometimes called a dollar dance in the United States) is another Mexican wedding tradition. For this tradition, guests at the wedding reception have bills ready to pin on the couple in exchange for a dance. Some will simply throw the cash on the dance floor. The significance is to wish the couple luck and abundance in their marriage.

Traditions

On December 23, 2022, Gabriel had told Alex he had planned an all day, all-inclusive date. Little known to Alex, Gabe had written a handful of letters pertaining to important milestones of their life together so far. They had started the day with breakfast at their local base diner where they had originally met, Alex had walked by the air hockey table and saw an envelope sticking out and Gabriel said "what is that?" so Alex grabbed it and it had the words "to Alex" written on it. When she read it, it was one reason why Gabriel loved her. Now Gabe does little romantic things all the time so Alex just thought it was one of those times. The next step on their journey was the place where Gabe had first given Alex her first flower from him, a cherry blossom. Alex and Gabriel met during cherry blossom season in Japan. She found another letter in the tree and it read a reason why he loved her. This went on throughout the day, re-living their special moments and places throughout their relationship. Now in true Alex fashion she had grown weary of the heels she was wearing but Gabe had one more stop on their list, Tokyo Tower. Tokyo Tower is a place that overlooks the entirety of downtown Tokyo, with its stunning lights and beauty! Unbeknownst to Alex, this would be the place that would live in infamy. This was the beginning of the rest of their lives together. There was one more letter Gabe had written for the night...this was it, this was finally the moment he was going to propose. Gabriel got down on one knee and asked Alex if she would marry him. With all the people around them and Gabriel's heart racing a thousand miles per hour, she said YES!

Two Nights Before Christmas

The Engagement

Alex and Gabriel appreciate the love and support of their family and that is what is most important to them. After the wedding, Alex and Gabriel will travel back to Japan where they are currently stationed. If guests wish to gift the couple, a monetary gift will be accepted. Alex and Gabriel do not have a wedding registry for this very reason. They can only carry their luggage back to Japan. Venmo: @Alex-Ramirez-117Zelle: 310-863-7926 Thank you all for understanding and we hope to see you there on our special day!
