Designed in the spirit of the world’s first golf courses, Ballyowen is one of the top golf courses in New Jersey, with a spectacular links-style layout that channels the heathland style landscapes of Ireland and Scotland. Designed by Roger Rulewich, the longtime lead design associate for Hall of Fame designer Robert Trent Jones Sr., the award-winning course occupies 250 acres across a scenic plateau. Take in the tranquil atmosphere as you meander through open meadows and rolling farmland, and enjoy 360-degree views of the Wallkill Valley and Appalachian Mountains.
If you’re looking for a challenging round, look no further than Crystal Springs Golf Club, one of New Jersey’s top golf courses. Despite measuring just over 6,800 yards from the championship tees, the course features Robert von Hagge’s signature challenging design, with rolling mounds that line the fairways and greens, providing beautiful contrast between the cuts and encouraging you to make your shots. The course also features an important piece of the Resort’s history — the clear waters of the natural springs formed by old limestone quarries, particularly on the 11th hole, gave the course (and the Resort) its name.
Created to satisfy players of every skill level, Black Bear is the perfect New Jersey golf course for casual and serious golfers alike. Rolling hills, pristine fairways, and beautiful water features make this one of the best golf courses in NJ, rated "very good to excellent" by Zagat. Designed by famed developer Jack Kurlander and opened in 1996, the course stretches 6,673 yards and features diverse terrain, scenery, and shot selection. Weekly events, exclusive offers, and tempting food and beverage options at the clubhouse ensure there’s something for everyone here.
Combining the expansive layout of Ballyowen with the multi-elevated design of Crystal Springs, Wild Turkey is one of the most unique golf courses in NJ, made up of two distinct types of terrain, providing golfers with the type of variety rarely found on a single course. Roger Rulewich’s design includes wide fairways and moderately contoured greens that make the course playable for high handicappers, while smartly placed tee boxes add challenge for experienced golfers.
The basin area of the Wild Turkey course — consisting of holes 3 and 12-17 — is reminiscent of the treeless expanse of Ballyowen. The par-3, 14th hole affords golfers a view of the entire hollow while challenging them with a long iron shot to a deep green. Many of the par-4s feature limited aprons that require both strategy and precision on the approach shot. The features protecting the green on the picturesque 15th hole are indicative of this prevailing design concept. The par-3, 7th and signature hole at Wild Turkey shares much in common with Crystal Springs’ signature hole. It too features a forced carry over a quarry lake to a well-protected and intimidating green. Similar to Crystal Springs and Ballyowen, playing Wild Turkey is considered a real challenge that avid golfers will relish.
Forget regular miniature golf — the 18-hole natural-grass putting course at Crystal Springs Resort is maintained by the same staff that oversees our world-class golf facilities, which rank among the best golf courses in the Northeast. Meandering in front of Grand Cascades Lodge alongside a running stream and beautiful native flora, this unique putting course offers the feel of real greens, and invites you to enjoy some practice and have fun in a beautiful setting.
