Our Wedding

It all started in Dr. George Branch-Trevathan’s Honors Interpreting Scriptures class! Allie was the T.A. for Gavin’s section, and the two enjoyed getting to know each other in the minutes before and after class each day. One day Gavin emailed Allie a question about the sophomore honors society (of which she was the president), and she took no hesitation in giving him her number - all for the sake of ease of communicating the answer, of course! ;)

Where We Met

On the last day before finals, Allie brought up the Black and White Dance to Gavin and a mutual friend, hoping that he would go so that they could finally hang out outside of class. The next day, he texted her asking if he could “tag along” - and the rest is history! They talked all night (even though the music was too loud to hear anything) and started texting as soon as they left.

The Proposal

In December 2023, Gavin decided to purchase the ring Allie wanted and hid it away in his room until he could plan the proposal. He had initially planned to propose that winter at the top of a ski slope at Peek’n Peak, but when winter had come and gone with little potential to go skiing, he had to plan alternatively.  Fast-forward to late February of 2024, when Gavin and Allie participated in their Honors program’s trip to Washington D.C. The entire time they were there, Gavin was trying to figure out where he could propose. Maybe the Lincoln Memorial? No… Maybe the Washington Monument at night? No… On their last day, they traveled to Washington’s Estate at Mount Vernon… this is where it would all go down.  He conspired with mutual friend George Tice to let him know to be ready to record once their group reached the river. When they reached their destination, Gavin (after nearly a full minute of convincing Allie this was real) knelt down on one knee and proposed. The woman was -quite literally- too stunned to speak! Emily Irons, being the amazing friend that she is, instinctually started taking pictures when she noticed George recording. Only a few minutes later, the group had to rush back to attend a pre-scheduled group tour of the Estate. Although it was a very lovely tour, don’t bother asking Allie many details about it - she was still trying to process the fact that she had just gotten engaged!  They didn’t think the six-hour bus ride back to campus was the best place to announce an engagement, so the pair instead took that time to soak in the moment and bask in the joy of their special little secret :)

Our Story

Victoria is Allie’s big in ZTA and best friend in life. They’ve spent the last year as roommates, and share a love of Taylor Swift, wine, and yapping. Allie truly couldn’t imagine anyone else being her MOH!

No two people have ever clicked as instantly as Allie and Charlotte. From the moment they met at a pub in Dublin during their study abroad in Ireland, they’ve been one and the same. Even though Charlotte lives in Canada, no amount of time or distance will ever lessen their friendship!

Madie and Allie were freshman roommates at Thiel and have remained friends ever since! Both joining ZTA and getting engaged around the same time has allowed them to share many core memories together. Allie was a bridesmaid in Madie’s wedding last August, and now Madie gets to be one of hers!

Jess was the very first person that Allie met from Thiel when she stayed with her for an overnight visit as a senior in high school. When Jess was Allie and Madie’s RA their freshman year, she became like a big sister to them. She is also the Mastermind behind Allie’s bridal shower!

Sarah is Allie’s G-big in ZTA and has remained her close friend since their shared year at Thiel together. Thiel and Zeta would not have been what they were for Allie if it wasn’t for Sarah, and the same goes for her wedding day!

Meghan moving to Wyoming in high school didn’t stop she and Allie from remaining besties through it all! They got matching tattoos together in 2020 and have made a point to get together at least once a year since then - with the most recent being at Meghan’s own wedding this past September!

Alaina and Allie met through ZTA and spent many ‘a weekend together Allie’s senior year. Many of Allie’s college memories involve Alaina, and she’s so excited to have her be a part of her wedding day too!

Mia and Allie were coworkers at Red Lobster in Erie and became friends when they learned of their shared love of reading and Taylor Swift!

Even though Gavin used to steal Joe’s lunch in elementary school, the pair have been best friends since 9th Grade. They share a unique sense of humor, and arguably get dinner together more than Gav and Allie do ;) Having Joe as his Best Man was a no-brainer!

Both history/education majors, Gavin and Chad met at Thiel their freshman year. Since then, the two have had almost every class together and inevitably became friends in the fall of 2022. Chad is Gavin’s closest friend at Thiel, and he’s looking forward to having him be a part of his big day!

Brother-in-law to the groom, Levi has been a part of Gavin’s life for the past several years, presenting himself as a great example of a husband and new father. Gavin is proud to have Levi as a solid friend and brother.

A soon-to-be brother in law, Philip has been another great addition to Gavin’s life as a friend, brother, and family member.

Philip Harris

Knowing Gavin ever since he was young, Riley has always been a close family friend and friend of Gavin for about as long as he can remember. They’ve had many adventures and Gavin is glad to have him present for the start of a new one.
