On February 3rd 2017 both Jimmy and Gillian attended the Young Harris High School Honor Band. Jimmy was a junior and Gillian was a freshman. Jimmy had been a trumpet player up until about a month before the Honor Band. He had just switched to Euphonium, but somehow still got first chair. Gillian was a Euphonium player since 7th grade, but she was third/last chair. That first night she thought Jimmy was super cute, and was utterly embarrassed at the amount of times he had to help her with various lines in the music.


The next morning, February 4th 2017, she decided she was going to get there 2 hours before rehearsal started so she could practice without him there. About 5 minutes after she arrived that morning, while no one else was there because it was like 6am, of course Jimmy walked through the door because "he liked watching the sunrise". This is when they actually introduced themselves. Gillian introduced herself as "Gillian With a G" because there was a name tag on the stand in front of her. Since that was a silly thing to say, Jimmy introduced himself as "Jimmy With a Y", which has been a running joke through their entire relationship. They spent the rest of that day playing music together and getting to know each other. At the end of the day when they said their good byes, they did not exchange contact information because they were both extremely awkward humans.


Gillian went home extremely conflicted. She had met this person who she could not stop thinking about, but all she had to research him was that his name was "Jimmy With a Y"... You can imagine how helpful that is when you want to internet stalk a person. She spent the entire next day trying to find him, which if you do not know, February 5th 2017 was a SuperBowl Sunday. Gillian's dad had never seen his daughter so disinterested in a SuperBowl, so he decided he had to get involved. He emailed the director of the honor band and lied and said that his daughter had borrowed Jimmy's jacket, and asked for his contact information. The director quickly emailed back two things: his full name, Jimmy McDuffie, and his email address.


Gillian never seems to do the most logical things, so you can imagine what came next. Rather than emailing him, she attempted to find Jimmy on social media. Jimmy only had two forms of social media: FaceBook and YouTube. Gillian never found that FaceBook account though. Instead, Gillian found Jimmy's YouTube account. She proceeded to comment on one of his audition videos her name and phone number. Shortly after, Gillian received a text reading, "Hey, this is Jimmy. You should take your phone number off of my YouTube video".


Jimmy and Gillian talked on and off, but never for long, for almost a full year until the next Young Harris High School Honor Band rolled around. Jimmy was now a Senior and Gillian was a Sophomore. Jimmy won a Music Scholarship that evening, so Gillian's dad offered to take Jimmy and his Grandmother to dinner. At that dinner Gillian fell in love with Jimmy and vowed she would trick this man into marrying her.


After that dinner, Jimmy and Gillian texted every single day. Gillian kept trying to convince Jimmy to date her and he kept saying she was "Too Young and Too Far Away". On August 7th 2018, Gillian won that fight. The rest was history.
