Gillian and John met the modern way; by swiping right on Tinder in 2018. Their first date was at a sushi place in Coeur D'Alene, and afterward they spent the rest of the day together and immediately hit it off! They have been inseparable ever since and have been living together with their 3 cats and hedgehog for the last 5 years.

The Proposal was long is the making and it all started with the ring! John ordered an Opal from Australia almost a year before the proposal date. During the time it took to get here John got with his and Gillians close friend Tiana, who helped design the perfect ring from scratch! John then took Tiana's design down to Clarks Jewelers in downtown Coeur D'Alene who made the design come to life! John and Tiana then planned an elaborate snowy Holiday Proposal for Gillian on a wildlife preserve near Lake Coeur D'Alene on December 23rd, 2021. She said YES! And to end the perfect night, John took Gillian out to dinner at Tony's by the Lake, where they had a fabulous dinner by the fireplace with lots of champagne!

John and Gillian love to make their favorite memories through travel and shared experiences. Their first outing as a couple was to Johns favorite camping spot on Lake Pend Orielle, they backpacked in and spent 3 days skipping rocks, climbing rockfaces, cooking good food, and exploring the nearby cedar grove. They try to do 1 or 2 trips a year and will always be running off to somewhere in search of their next adventure. Their 3 favorites trips so far are; Yellowstone 2021, Gillians first time to Yellowstone National Park, where they saw lots of grizzly bears and Bison; Seattle 2019, where John and Gillian spent several days in Seattle exploring the Aquarium and Pikes Place Market; and finally, their trip to Cancun Mexico in 2020 where they spent over a week lounging on the beach, drinking margaritas, and eating amazing food.
