The heart and soul of downtown St. John's is the live music and the great food culture! There is something for everyone. A trip to George Street is a must! With 2 blocks of bars and pubs, you'll definitely find some good Irish music, lots of dancing, good grub along with a pint of Guinness or a glass of Cab Sauv! Coffee- ok to get your morning started right you need some good coffee! Places to check out include:

The Battery Cafe, Bannerman Brewery, Coffee Matters, Terre Cafe, Rocket Bakery, Jumping Bean, The Parlour Gelatto & Coffee, Toslow and The Postmaster's Bakery. These are all downtown and accessible by foot and have websites for direction and menus!

Breakfast/Brunch - whether you want something light or require a good 'hangover' breakfast, these places will hook you up right!

Vegan & Gluten Free

The Sprout, located downtown on Duckworth St., is the only pure vegan restaurant in the city. Most restaurants however have vegan and gluten free options. Just check their menu out before you go or make a reservation!

Last but not least, NL's claim to fame - OUR FISH AND CHIPS! You cannot leave NL without a feed of FI & CHI!! Our favorite place to go is right next to our home, By the Beach Fish and Chips in St. Phillips. Overlooking Conception Bay and Bell Island, you will have the best meal and view. If you are lucky some whales may bless you with a visit during your meal! How can it get any better than that? A couple of other mentionables include Chess's Fish and Chips along with the Duke Pub, both in the downtown area.
