My name is Jenna Borden and I was one of many lucky women to be selected as one of Grace’s bridesmaids, and specifically as her maid of honor.
I am a recent graduate of the University of Maine’s Social Work program and now carry my master’s degree in Social Work along with my certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling. I work through Wellspring in Bangor as a group and individual Substance Abuse Counselor. I never saw myself working in this field but have grown to love the work that I do and the lives that I touch every day. I am also recently engaged and a parent of several crazy fur-children. I love adventuring, shopping, crafting, and spending time with my friends and family as much as possible! To put it simply, I would say I am a creative, loving, and easy-going person.
My earliest memories with Grace include so many fun afternoons and summers at the Old Town/Orono YMCA where we were placed in the same program and became best friends. We bonded over horses and our love for the outdoors! Through the typical transitions of life – me moving to a different school, life, college, and love – we hit our ins and outs with talking and visiting one another but no matter what, the second we reconnected we would pick up where we left off. Grace has been the one friend I have always been able to confide in and rely on through thick and thin. When I finally moved back to Old Town during the end of our college careers, we lived just blocks away from one another again. I got to know Grace all over again but also learn all about this man who stole her heart and changed her world. I am so happy for Grace and Dave and am looking forward to celebrating with them as they tie the knot!
From Grace: One of my favorite memories from our childhood is going to conservation camp, we basically had no idea what we were doing but had a blast!! (and Eddie was there)Dana lives in Freeport, Maine with her fiance, Jeffrey, and dog, Juniper. She is an Account Analyst at Clark Insurance. Her hobbies include spending time at camp with family, taking her dog for hikes, and volunteering with her local 4-H clubs. Dana and Grace first met in 2009 as delegates at the National 4-H Conference in Washington DC. They quickly bonded and became friends over their mutual weirdness.
Some of our favorite memories include:
Taking excessive pictures on the plane and our trip to Atlanta and making everyone hate us.
Singing ‘Party in the USA’ off the balcony at our hotel room and getting yelled at by our chaperone.
Making up our own titles for the Sheep team and making shirts that said so.
Making my dad super uncomfortable with our bikinis in Florida.
Sarah Currently lives in Calais, Maine with her husband, Dog named Kali, and baby to be. She currently works as a caregiver at St. Croix Early Care and Education Center, as well as substitute teaches at Calais Elementary School. In her free time, Sarah enjoys coaching youth cheering, spending time with her husband, and getting the house ready for the newest edition to the family.
Sarah first met grace in The Sharing Place Preschool at the age of four years old. This means Sarah and Grace have been friends for well over twenty years now. While holding different interests and hobbies, this never stopped Sarah and Grace from being friends over the years.
Sarah’s favorite memory of grace would have to be the time she finally convinced Grace to try out for cheerleading. Even though we did not get first place at competition that year, that sure was a fun and memorable season!
Candy is a very busy young lady. She currently works tirelessly at Perkin Elmer, working on high tech instruments for dairy farmers and more. She shares a love of animals and has 3 spunky cats. She has recently moved back to Maine from Illinois, but grew up in sunny Naples, FL.
She meet Grace during college in Biology 100 lab. She came over to use the stapler at Grace's table and Grace so rudely said she couldn't use it, but later Candy realized that was her personality. They continued to tease each other and work together on both lab and classwork. The studying continued to more classes together for they shared a similar major. They used to go to parties together.
Trina lives in Bangor and is an amazing woman and mom of two boys that mean the world to her. I was so blessed to be there when her son Jeremy was born and I got to cut the umbilical cord!!!
Trina and I meet at the YMCA, where we worked together in the daycare with 4/5 year olds. We started to hangout more when we were asked to run the "get healthy" kids sports program in the gym. I actually started baby sitting her kids first before we ended up hitting it off, and became great friends over the years.
We've gone to concerts together, we've had some crazy car stories. One in particular is when we were driving home from probably a goodwill outing and came up to a red light by the Elementary School in Old Town. Trina recognized that I was not slowing down and was like, that's a red light, I thought, oh shoot, and whipped a right turn into the school driveway. Meanwhile Trina was like what just happened and I reassured her it was fine, because of the right on red rule lol.
Trina used to help me get ready for dances like prom and semi. She would do my hair, and makeup. Sometimes even at the Y while we were working... oops. She knew how much I loved dressing up!
Now we spend our time watching movies and making brownie sundaes, game nights or going shopping.
How I met my best friend and the beautiful bride Grace Marie-Anne Gonnella:
It was a day like any other day at the YMCA In Old Town Maine, with a little girl in the ymca daycare program in the kindergarten room. She was playing with her toys when she saw another little girl sitting at the table right beside her. She was quiet and had a navy blue zip up hoodie on with the hood up. The little girl walked up to the quiet child and said "Hi, I'm Taylor! Are you Chinese?" (lol) Yeah she really said that. hahahahah. Anyways, the little girl in the hoodie responded, "No I am not Chinese, but I'm Grace!" The little girls met and started playing together, and that started a friendship of a lifetime! 21 Years later they are still best friends and wouldn't change it for the world. All the amazing times and memories we have made are wonderful and I am excited for a lifetime of many many more. Love ya girly and I am so happy to be your best friend!
