Gaye Hembree married Robert Knott in 1998. They built a home together in Latanier, Louisiana where they raised their daughter. All while this was happening Melinda Loyacano married Monroe Milton in 1999. They built a home together in Latanier, Louisiana where they raised their son. Grace and Kent had a couple play dates when they were young, including riding in their first hot air balloon together. Grace always had Kent in mind thinking he was the cutest boy she had ever seen. However, as they grew up and went to different elementary schools and high schools, they went their separate ways.

In the summer of 2018, Grace taught Kent's younger sister, Julianne, swimming lessons. Slowly Grace noticed Kent begin to take Julianne to swimming lessons and pick her up. By the end of the summer, Kent was picking Grace up and dropping her off from countless dates. They decided to officially become a couple before Grace started her junior year of high school and Kent started his senior year.

Grace and Kent went the University of Lafayette together. Throughout their college careers, they were able to build a life together full of new friends, Greek life, church, beach trips, studying for school together, campus events, and of course Central Pizza date nights. During college, they became each other's number one supporters and best friend. A relationship that started from Grace's childhood crush went to high school sweethearts went to two adults ready to spend the rest of their lives together.

Grace received her white coat for ULL nursing school. Now she has accepted a job in the Pediatric ICU at Our Lady of Lourdes. She is graduating on December 21st.

Kent and Grace celebrated one of their first non-covid ULL football seasons together at the same school!

Kent graduated in mechanical engineering and started working as an automation engineer at Noble Plastics.

Kent proposed to Grace on the Cottonport Bayou. A place special to Grace because her grandparents lived on this bayou, having spent summers here as a child she always wanted her husband and future family to have a special connection to it. For their engagement Kent recreated their first date and spent the morning recreating their hiking date that they had gone on right before they became an official couple. After the proposal, they had a party with their intermediate family and grandparents and then celebrated that night in Lafayette with their friends.

Over the time of their engagement, they have been preparing for their marriage and preparing and starting their careers. Kent graduated from UL in May of 2023 and began working as an automation engineer at Noble Plastics. Grace will graduate as a nurse in December of 2024 and has a job as a pediatric intensive care unit nurse at Our Lady of Lourdes. They both feel incredibly blessed to be able to grow up together from kids to teens to adults. They can't wait to start their lives together on February 22, 2025!
