We were both working as behavior technicians at a school called the Virginia Institute of Autism (then the Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center). CJ had recently moved to Roanoke from Maryland after his parents bought their home at Smith Mountain lake. Grace grew up in Roanoke, and had moved back from Buffalo to be closer to her family, too. We were friends first, and enjoyed hanging out while watching movies and exploring around Roanoke. As time went on, we grew closer and fell in love! That's the short version.

CJ is everything I've ever dreamed of in a partner! He is first and foremost my best friend. He knows how to cheer me up when I'm feeling down, he is always making me laugh, and his optimism and hopefulness shines bright everyday. I was first drawn to his huge heart, and how he shows love in everything he does. I have since learned that he is an incredible partner in both the good times and the bad, and I feel that he always has my back. CJ celebrates all my accomplishments and cheers me on when I want to try something new. I know that no matter what challenges we may face, we can get through them together.

I am obsessed with Grace. Obsessed with her laugh, her voice, her kindness, her sense of adventure. She is the best helper I know. Her generosity and heart are bigger than anyone I've ever met. She puts her whole self into everything she has ever done, and isn't afraid to follow her dreams. She is my biggest supporter. Hell, she's EVERYONE'S biggest supporter. This woman is the best type of friend you could ask for, and I feel really lucky that we found each other.
