Our Story

Grace and Ethan's story together is one of serendipity and love. Take a look into how it started, and learn about how they each grew into their relationship together. At the bottom of the page, you can also find more information about Grace and Ethan's individual upbringings, education, accomplishments, and current careers.

It was early in Grace's career and first job when she attended a marketing and event planning conference in Las Vegas. She was excited for the opportunity to travel and hoped to have some free time during the week to explore the city. During one of the first seminars of the conference, a girl Grace's age sits in the seat right next to her, and she introduces herself as Sam Saucedo. Grace and Sam exchanged numbers that day, grabbed dinner together that night, and spent almost all of their free time exploring Las Vegas together. Their unexpected meeting turned into a close friendship with fond memories. After the conference ended, Grace returned home to Kansas City, Sam returned home to Minnesota, and both girls continued their friendship with lots of calls and texts to stay in touch.

A year and a half later, Ethan was also starting out in his career and was making decisions about his life after graduating college. He decided to take an opportunity to move from where he grew up in Minnesota to Kansas City with two of his closest friends and explore a new place to live and work. During this same time, Grace and Sam continued to stay in touch. Coincidently, because Sam was also from Minnesota, she was acquainted with Ethan's group of friends and knew about their upcoming move to Kansas City. She also knew Grace was single and thought she'd be interested in meeting them. Sam did what any 20-something-year-old does, and she sent Grace their Instagram profiles to choose from. Grace knew instantly that she wanted to meet Ethan.

Just three days after Ethan moved to Kansas City, he and Grace met for the first time on a date together at a restaurant rooftop overlooking the Country Club Plaza. They spent all night talking about their friends and family and their visions for the future, and it felt like an effortless connection between the two of them. Grace didn't want the night to end, and since Ethan was new to the city, she decided to show him a view of downtown Kansas City from the top of the Liberty Memorial- where to their surprise also happened to be a fireworks show going on in the distance. You could say sparks were flying throughout the night. It didn't take long for Grace and Ethan to know that they were serious about one another. They spent their time together meeting each other's families, supporting each other in their growing careers, and even took their first trip together to Cancun, Mexico in April of 2022. This was just the start of their commitment to one another.

After two years of dating, Ethan and Grace decided it was time to take the next step in their relationship and look at engagement rings together. They both have fond memories of getting to try on different styles and remember the excitement they felt for the future. Ethan then formed a plan to propose in the coming months. He arranged a gondola ride date night on the water at the Country Club Plaza for the two of them- in the area they met and had their first date together. Ethan hired a professional photographer to capture the moment and paced out how long the ride was going to take and when he should start his planned speech and proposal. With the Plaza lights, gondolier, hidden photographer, and romantic scenery to set the stage, Ethan completely surprised Grace when he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. They were then engaged on 11.11.22. The couple could not be more excited to start their lives together and to celebrate their love with friends and family in April!

Grace's Story

Grace grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, with her younger sister and Maid of Honor, Olivia, and they were both raised by their mother, Christy. When she was young, Grace had ring-tight curly hair, a face full of freckles, and always seemed to be the tallest in her class. In her elementary days, she performed almost every year (with a bit of encouragement from mom) in her school's talent show, singing solo to songs like Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me". In 6th grade, Grace was selected by her teachers to attend a National Young Leadership conference in Washington DC, where she was recognized for her academic achievements and leadership skills. Grace was also a part of a talent agency where she had opportunities to model for Hallmark and Sprint, and she was selected to audition for a lead voice role in The Polar Express movie.

Through middle school and onto high school, Grace was in choir, played on a competitive volleyball league, and was on both the cheerleading and dance teams. She was one of three sophomores to earn a place on the varsity cheer team in high school and was then selected her senior year as the team captain. Grace was also nominated by her senior class to be on the homecoming court as homecoming queen and was selected as a part of a senior-class committee to organize graduation. At graduation, Grace was also recognized as a part of the National Honors Society based on scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Grace then pursued her degree at the University of Central Missouri. During her freshman year, she joined Tri Sigma sorority with over 100 other women and was selected to be the sorority's Panhellenic delegate to the chapter's executive committee and arranged campus events with other sororities. She graduated Cum Laude in the college of business with a Bachelor of Science Degree in public relations and a minor in communications. Grace started her first job soon after graduation in a marketing role that provided her with opportunities to travel across the country.

Grace moved into her first apartment in the heart of downtown Kansas City, where she lived on her own on the 26th floor of a high rise building. During this time is when she and Ethan met, fell in love, and became engaged. Grace now works as a marketing manager at a top ten accounting firm in the U.S., specializing in government health care services. She manages the firm's multiple websites, social media pages, external communication to government agencies, and she continues to travel to conferences across the country.

Ethan's Story

Ethan grew up in Oak Grove, Minnesota, with his older sister Kiersten, his older brother and Best Man, Spencer, and was raised by his parents Kathryn and Dean. When Ethan was young, he was known for being energetic, enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to compete in games with his family and friends. He was involved in sports starting at a young age playing football, baseball, and basketball and was coached by his dad for many years.

In middle school and throughout high school, Ethan was involved in choir and played the saxophone in band. He was also heavily involved in sports, playing both basketball and football in high school. Ethan was selected as captain of the basketball team his senior year, was voted MVP by his teammates and coaches and helped lead his team to the Minnesota state tournament, where he was awarded academic all-state. During his senior year, Ethan was also nominated by his class to be on the homecoming court. He excelled academically, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, was a part of the National Honors Society and was selected as the AAA Award Winner in high school for his achievements in academics, athletics, and arts.

Ethan attended Hamline University and played collegiate basketball for 4 years as a power forward and was selected as captain his junior and senior years. Ethan graduated college with his Bachelor of Science Degree in biochemistry. With his degree, Ethan worked in pharmacies over the next year while he determined if he wanted to go onto pharmacy school.

After moving to Kansas City, Ethan decided to change his career path and instead went back to school to get certified in information technology. Soon after graduating the program, Ethan started at his current job working in a senior information technology and systems engineering role at a wealth management advisory firm, named on Forbes' Best-in-State Wealth Advisor List. Ethan is responsible for updating technology systems and frequently travels to newly acquired locations across the country, collaborating closely with managing directors. Ethan's current office is located on the Country Club Plaza and just so happens to also be next door to Grace's office building.
