Q + A

Though we hope you will enjoy visiting AK as much as you enjoy the wedding, we know it is an enormous expense to travel to our state. We so appreciate that you're considering attending our union. Some information to help with planning can be found below, and on the "Travel" and "Things to Do" tabs. If you have any other questions while planning your trip, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Weather

Summer in Alaska is incredible but the weather varies dramatically from year to year. Temps will likely be in the mid 60s. The venue has both indoor and outdoor areas. We recommend bringing a jacket in case it is cool outside.

Dress Code

We want everyone to be comfortable but understand the desire to dress up. We have adopted the term "Alaska Formal" which can mean anything from traditional formal wear to jeans and a flannel. Be sure to bring comfortable shoes or plan to be barefoot as we will have yard games set up outside.

Drinks

We will have complimentary beer and wine available for our guests all evening, and a limited number of cocktails provided as well. That being said, there are no restrictions on bringing your own booze, so if you'd prefer to bring your own beverages, feel free!

Lodging

We recommend booking lodging soon. Solstice weekend is a popular event weekend in AK. Hotels and airbnbs will fill up quickly. There will be a shuttle to/from the wedding from Valley Hotel, in downtown Palmer. A hotel room or BnB in downtown Palmer will likely be the most convenient.

Sunrise and Sunset

The sun will be up for the entire event. If you are not from AK, we recommend bringing a sleep mask. It takes a while to adjust to sleeping while the sun is out. On June 22, 2024: Sunrise - 4:14 AM; Sunset - 11:46 PM.

Transportation to/from the ceremony

We will have a bus that stops at Valley Hotel in downtown Palmer. They have limited rooms so we suggest booking soon if you plan to stay at this facility, but there are additional lodging options nearby as well. The shuttle will run two times in the evening. Additionally, if you're planning to keep the party going after the wedding celebration, taking the shuttle to Palmer could be a great option, there are several watering holes downtown.

Transportation before/after the wedding

Alaska is HUGE. If you plan to spend time exploring the state before or after the wedding, we strongly recommend reserving a vehicle for transportation. Turo is often a cheaper option than car rental companies.

Gifts

Coming to our wedding is a gift in itself but if you would like to give us a little something, a contribution to our honeymoon would be much appreciated. A link to the gift fund can be found under the gifts tab.
