This has become one of our favorite stories to tell...

They say the Lord works in mysterious ways, and we couldn’t agree more. It’s true—He brings people into your life at just the right time.

Nick and I grew up just eight minutes apart, attending the same elementary, middle, and high school. Looking back, our paths must have crossed countless times, but the only memory we share from those years is sitting in AP Biology, where we may have exchanged, at most, ten words.

Even though neither of us originally planned to attend Georgia Southern University, we both felt God leading us there. I had the rare opportunity to serve as the feature twirler for GSU during my senior year of high school—the same year Nick started college. He was on the drumline in the Southern Pride Marching Band, playing the snare drum. During our first season together, we’d occasionally exchange quick hellos in passing, mostly because he was one of the few familiar faces from high school.

The drumline and majorettes usually shared a bus for away games. During the 2022 season, on the way to the Georgia State rivalry game, a few guys from the drumline came up to the front to chat with the twirlers. One of them was Nick, and, as fate would have it, he chose to sit right next to me. What started as casual conversation turned into a four-hour-long conversation. By the end of the trip, a few of my friends even asked if something was going on between us. I assured them we just knew each other from high school.

At the time, my roommate Ellie and I were looking for a new church in Statesboro. I knew Nick attended one, so I decided to message him and ask. That one message turned into constant texting, and before I knew it, I had casually invited myself to join him for church, strictly as friends, of course. We started attending Tuesday and Wednesday services together, and our friendship grew quickly.

On December 9, 2022, Nick and I took our very first trip together, heading to Athens, Georgia, to attend a BYX Christmas party. We left early that morning, spent the day exploring the city, and ended the night at the party. Afterward, just before the late-night drive home, Nick asked me to be his girlfriend. That unforgettable day marked the beginning of the incredible journey we've been on ever since.

These past two and a half years have been nothing short of amazing. We’ve grown together, laughed endlessly, and built a relationship rooted in love and a shared faith. We are each other's best friend, greatest blessing, and each other’s person. We both can not wait to spend the rest of our lives together!
