Q + A

Where is the wedding?

Both the ceremony and reception will be held at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), which is located six blocks from the oceanfront. This beautiful space contains an atrium with ample natural light, live trees indoors, skylights, and blown glass artwork.

What time should I arrive?

Guests can begin arriving at 5:00pm. The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30pm.

Is there parking?

Yes, the MOCA has free on-site parking. They will also allow you to leave your car overnight.

What are my transportation options?

There are multiple ways to get to the venue, which is located off of 22nd street. For any hotel between 10th and 33rd street, the venue is no more than a 4-7 minute car ride or a 20-30 minute walk. Please see the travel page for our hotel recommendations. The city of Virginia Beach has recently implemented "Freebee," a free ride-share service. Rides are on-demand, door-to-door, and in 100% electric vehicles. Rides can be hailed via the "Ride Freebee" app, phone, or flagged down. They provide rides across the entire oceanfront area until 11pm. For more information on FreeBee, visit https://ridefreebee.com/service-areas/virginia-beach. We also suggest Uber or Lyft. You may leave your car overnight at the MOCA should that be necessary.

Is the wedding inside or outside?

The ceremony and reception will be indoors. The cocktail hour is also indoors; however, guests will be allowed to mingle on MOCA's lawn space and covered patio as well.

Is there an after party?

For those not done celebrating, we anticipate heading over to The Shack, an outdoor bar on the beach with live music, fire pits, and lawn games. The Shack is located on 8th street, at 712 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451. This is a 6 minute car ride from the MOCA.

Are kids welcome?

As much as we love your little ones, this will be an adults-only celebration.

We are having a cookie table. What is that?

A cookie table is a Pittsburgh tradition, and it's the perfect way to bring a little taste of the 'burgh to the beach. It was said to originate during the Great Depression as the bride and groom's family and friends baked cookies to avoid the cost of a wedding cake. Today, the tradition remains and offers loved ones an opportunity to show their adoration for the newlyweds through baking. All guests will be able to fill up a take-home bag with assorted treats to eat the rest of the week! If you're interested in contributing to the cookie table, please let Gracie and Dan (or their moms) know. We can add you to a shared spreadsheet where you can give us details about what you're bringing and get more information on how it will work.
