Hailey and Josh have been together quite a long time now….but here is a short timeline of their 5+ years together. They first met on their high school cross country team. Hailey first noticed Josh when they were injured at the same time, and frequently ended up spin biking together while the rest of the team ran. Josh was the only one who didn’t call her by her last name and she liked it.
The following school year, they shared one class together: AP Psychology. It was no accident that God used a randomized seating chart to place them next to each other in the back of the classroom - where their relationship grew as Josh consistently made Hailey laugh with his awe-inspiring wit. He asked her on a first date in December, and by January, they were official. They got to spend the rest of year together going to track meets, school dances (including prom) and studying for AP tests.
Josh went to UCLA and Hailey to Sacramento State a year later. The long distance brought about some serious conversations about their relationship. They had to learn how to communicate effectively and live their own lives while still honoring their commitment and sacrifice to each other. Hailey made a lot of visits to UCLA and Josh made the grueling drive up the 5 freeway monthly. As their relationship with God matured, so did their devotion to one another, despite the 300 mile distance between them. Graduation and the end of long distance was a long-awaited celebration.
When Hailey moved home, they began real conversations about engagement and marriage - and now have the blessing of being in the same church community. In May, Josh pulled off some crazy elaborate planning to surprise Hailey with a sunset proposal on the Palos Verdes bluffs.
Hailey and Josh have been present in each other's lives for tons of milestones: 18th birthdays, high school dances, college acceptances and graduations, Josh’s baptism, first jobs (doordash/fleet feet) and first marathons. They are excited to start a new life together where they can experience new milestones as husband and wife. The Lord has been so kind to them and they look forward to continue walking with Jesus as a young couple.
