Hailey and I met April 16th 2022 on a very respectable dating app called Tinder. We struck up a conversation and made dinner plans that day! Hailey wore her nicest pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I, on the other hand, wore some sleek khakis and a shirt with buttons on it. Hailey didn’t know it at the time but I had brought some goofy and somewhat childish sunglasses to wear during dinner as a test. I wore the pair of Spider-Man speedy glasses into the establishment and gave Hailey the pretty pink princess ones. She gladly took them and we wore them for almost the entire time at dinner. That night we had a two person dance/karaoke party that lasted for hours singing along to our favorite songs while still wearing those same sunglasses and using a can opener and spatula as microphones. In a time where people are more concerned about what others think or perceive of them, it’s hard to find someone who’s willing to be themself and be silly or weird as you might call it. I found out that night that Hailey is not someone to shy away from being herself and having fun. I’ve loved that about her ever since we first met and continue to enjoy all her quirks and impulse adventures to this day. From now and for eternity, may we always find time to dance and sing together.
Joshua and I met in Steamboat Springs on a wonderful app called Tinder. He asked if I wanted to get dinner and picked me up that evening. My first impression of Josh was how much of a gentleman he was. He walked me to his truck, opened the door, and helped me up. He brought me to O’Neils and we wore his kid sized sunglasses into the restaurant, spider-man for him and princess ones for me. We spent a wonderful evening eating a meal and sharing stories with each other. I even went to the bathroom mid meal and FaceTimed my mom to tell her I was on a date with a guy from Tinder! Leaving O’Neils, sunglasses and all, I asked to meet his pup, Bridget. Josh agreed under one condition: that I would dance with him. We spent the rest of the evening dancing to everything from Doja Cat and Snoop Dog, to Frank Sinatra, using kitchen utensils as microphones. I am so so grateful for every “not yet” God has given to me up until this point because I found myself in the right place at the right time to fall in love with a perfect stranger that night. Joshua is the best “yes” I’ve ever received.
Disclaimer: for whatever reason, I did not prepare for this dinner like it was actually a date. I wore sweatpants and a sweatshirt with my hair in the messiest bun and, of course, forgot I had a womanstache which he told me about two weeks later. BUT I did impress him enough to want me to be his wife!
