About a week before October 29, 2022 - Haley commits an act of UGA treason by liking a picture of a guy in a Georgia Tech polo on Hinge. To her surprise, he matched with her. They started texting back and forth and the sparks flew instantly. Kevo finally asked Haley to go on a date and they made plans to do so.

October 29, 2022 - Kevo meets Haley at Fogo de Chao and does his best to keep his jaw from hitting the floor as she walked in and gave him a shy little smile (25 minutes late, of course). They had a great first date that felt like a tenth date. They just felt like they’d known each other forever, it was so easy. Kevo knew he was in deep when Haley had to stop and check the college football scores on the way out of the restaurant before he could walk her to her car.

Shortly after, Haley had a few health scares and realized she couldn’t commit to a new relationship at that point, needing to focus on her health. Kevo never gave up though. He continued to (annoyingly but sweetly) text and check in on Haley to see how she was doing. Haley never responded…

December 24, 2022 - Kevo texted Haley with a “Merry Christmas/hope you’re doing well” message in a last ditch effort to get her back in his life. And to his surprise, she responded! With her health scares mostly behind her, she realized how much she missed having Kevo in her life. They began texting back and forth and quickly started dating again.

January 21, 2023 - Haley and Kevo decided that they were spending enough time together that they might as well put a label on it. Enter the boyfriend and girlfriend convo.

Over the next couple of months, Kevo spent his weekends at Haley’s apartment, traveling there and back from Cumming each way (an hour drive, one way).

With Haley’s lease coming to an end, Gracie’s hatred of Kevo leaving each Sunday, and his needing to find a way to reduce his truck mileage, the two started looking for a place together. They quickly find a beautiful house that would become their home on June 9, 2023.

After a few months of nothing but joy and laughter, Haley and Kevo kept waiting for the “moving in arguments” that everyone warned them about to come. But they just never did. Things were easy. Simple. Loving. Good. So good in fact, that Haley started to dramatically and not-so-subtly stare at her left ring finger and comment on it’s plainness. Kevo took the hint and went to work designing the perfect engagement ring and proposal (which would take about 6 months to complete).

In the meantime, Haley and Kevo continued to have fun and enjoy living and being together. As an early surprise Christmas present, Kevo brought home a sweet little puppy on November 29th. When Haley finally noticed him in Kevo’s hands, it’s a miracle she made it down the stairs in one piece to cuddle her new boy. She named him Baxter.

February 24, 2024 - Kevo had finally finished the ring and had the proposal all planned out. He made reservations at a winery (that Haley had always hinted would be a cute place to get engaged). He hired the photographer. Haley had no idea what was happening. Things were perfect. Until Haley decided she didn’t want to go because “it was just such a good lazy Saturday”. He persuaded her to go by saying “it’s drinking wine and eating meat and cheese. It doesn’t take much effort”. Haley begrudgingly agreed to go, but made it clear she wasn’t happy about it and she drug her feet the whole way. After a few glasses of wine, Kevo tried to get Haley to walk over to the waterfall and bridge, which she also made difficult, but again begrudgingly agreed. Meanwhile, Kevo was racing the sunset to make sure the photographer still had some light left in the day to capture the big moment he knew was coming. Finally on the bridge, in front of a waterfall, with glasses of wine in hand, Kevo gets down on one knee and pops the question. For the first time in her life, Haley was speechless. With nothing to say yet still impatient as ever, she barely nodded yes, then took the perfect ring and put it on her own finger. After the many congratulations and celebrations of the night had settled, Kevo and Haley looked at each other, cuddled up with their 2 dogs, and Haley apologized for being such a pain in the ass and told him that she couldn’t wait for the perfectly imperfect life ahead of them.
