Reunion hike in Salt Lake City, UT up Little Cottonwood Canyon hiking Red Butte Lake. Hannah spent the summer working in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge in Kodiak, AK and Sam in MT. The first foreshadowing of us being able to make a long distance relationship work.

Prime college years. We were both in Salt Lake City, UT at a Christmas party during undergrad at Westminster College. Hannah's teeth didn't seem to scare Sam away yet... (little did he know all the cavities she would have)

Sam surprised Hannah with a backcountry yurt cross country ski trip in the Uintah Mountains, UT for Christmas. She knew he was a keeper then.

Our first spring break together in undergrad where they went to Joshua Tree in CA and climbed/camped with a group of friends and explored Anza -borrego Desert Park during the supposed Super Bloom.. can't you tell.

After Sam graduated, we both got summer jobs at the City of Rocks National Reserve in Almo, ID. This was taken just after moving there in May, it snowed!

We both worked as park rangers that summer and managed to enjoy living in a pop up camper together.

However, most of the time, or all of the free time, was spent rock climbing throughout the City with friends and each other.

The fourth of July fireworks show in the City Of Rocks where we ate lots of potato salad and got showered with firework shrapnel, best fourth of July yet.

Sam also showed Hannah how to fly fish that summer, or Hannah mostly watched Sam while he fished and she got sun burnt actually sounds more accurate... Fishing on the Snake River in Idaho.

We were also able to go back to Idaho Falls, ID, Hannah's child-hood home, to watch the total Eclipse that summer with lots of family and friends #totality

We returned to school in SLC. Ft is our first stocking together, Ham (Hannah and Sam). Where the heck is that thing??

We spent New Years Eve together in Driggs, ID that year with both our families. This is the first and only New Years Eve we actually spent together since starting dating and yes this is the only picture we have together to show.

We were both working in SLC during this time (Hannah a veterinary technician and Sam a substitute teacher), but were able to get time off to take a trip to Virginia with Sam's family and explore the National Mall in Washington, DC.

Trip to Goblin Valley, UT with both of our families exploring the desert and slot canyons. This was the infamous trip where Bill George ripped his corneas off both eyes when he removed his contacts ending the trip promptly ahead of schedule. He has since recovered but be sure to ask him about it.

We joined the fearless duo Connor and Sarah to climb Borah Peak outside Mackay, ID... lots of snow, bad shoe choices.. did not make it but enjoyed the view

We explored the Smith River with Bill George and George Shawah. Really low water level so we basically had the river all to ourselves! And Bill forgot his tent poles, classic.

Sam's turn to visit Hannah! We were back country skiing in the Wasatch Mountains in Salt Lake City, UT with time off between Sam's med school and my vet tech job.

Then Hannah went back to Bozeman to visit Sam! (seeing a pattern now?) Road biking, hiking, running around Bozeman, MT.

We were able to take a trip to Kalispell, MT with Sam's family and enjoy a day of boating on Flat Head Lake.

We took a pretty epic trip with some even better friends to the Sawtooth Mountains in ID just trip prior to Hannah starting veterinary school and Sam had time off during his second year of med school. We climbed a backcountry alpine trad peak, Warbonnet Peak and totally suffer-fested by getting epically lost on the approach. We managed to survive, still climbe the peak, and had an even better story to tell afterwards. A trip we will never forget!

We got to enjoy a cross country ski trip to the Palouse Divide outside Pullman, WA when Sam came to visit Hannah during vet school.

COVID learning from Red Lodge, MT featuring mostly outdoor things, and a little bit of studying. Hannah went virtual for veterinary school to finish out her first year and Sam spent time studying for his boards test both while enjoying time at the George's in Red Lodge, MT with Bethany and Casey to get into trouble with as well!

Sam and Hannah visiting her parents in Tetonia, ID and on top of the summit of Table Rock Mountain. Still lots of snow and post holing to get to the top! Sam was on a break from medical school and Hannah was on summer break from vet school working at a local clinic in Victor, ID.

Ew David! The start of the David Rose era. During this same trip, Hannah picked up a dog named David Rose and most importantly, Sam was there for the start of it all! The second day "fostering" David and his first float on the Teton River in Driggs, ID. The rest is history.

Sam started his clinics during his 3rd year of med school and selected a rural track placing him in Dillon, MT. Hannah was able to visit that summer to enjoy a backpacking trip outside of Dillon, MT, in the Pioneer Mountains. There were some skeeters!

We didn't get to see each other a ton during school but winter break always promised a longer visit with each other! Sam accompanied Hannah back home to Driggs ID for part of the break where we were able to explore some backcountry skiing outside Victor, ID with Sarah and Connor and David of course! This was the trip David sprained his tail from the deep pow....

We reunited for another snowy trip in a new area to explore, the Wallowa National Forest outside St. Joseph, OR. Amazing! We got to backcountry ski, cross country ski, and stay in a tiny home!

Hannah's spring break during second year of vet school she visited Sam in Seattle, WA while he was there doing clinicals and toughing out the rain and commuting on e-bike. But while visiting the sun came out and we were able to enjoy a little spring time beach day. This was David's first time to the ocean, not a fan of the salt water...

Hannah (again) spent the summer in Driggs, ID working and Sam was able to visit (again) for a back pack trip up to Granit Basin Lakes and Little's Peak.

We of course got time off during school to party in Lake Placid, NY with Bethany and Casey for their wedding weekend. Ft themed western night

Sam had some med school rotations in Spokane, WA and we both had a free weekend to explore Sandpoint, ID with good friends and skiing at Schweitzer.

For Sam's pre graduation, graduation trip.... we went to Costa Rica with the Georg family! We explored beautiful beaches, turquoise water falls, tubed rives, hiked rainforests, and explored little towns, and of course got 3rd degree sunburns. Pura Vida!

Sam's medical school graduation in Seattle, WA from University of Washington Medical Program. He did it!! Sam matched into Emergency Medicine, and matched at his top residency program out in.. yes.. West Virginia!

Yup, he moved his butt to West Virginia, Morgantown, WV (almost heaven), that summer and started residency. I was able to visit that fall while finishing my last year of vet school to complete an externship out there. We visited Cooper Rock State Park outside Morgantown.

That same trip Sam surprised Hannah with Hamilton tickets in Baltimore for our 7 year anniversary! Yes, She could have married him right there! LOL we also got to spend the next day exploring Baltimore and eating delicious mussels.

That same trip Hannah managed to 'foster' a cat from her externship, convince Sam he needed a cat, and adopt said cat for Sam. AKA the story of Miss Josh.

Little secret, Hannah loves getting iced. So Hannah got iced a lot on her graduation day and Sam joined on in the fun. Little did Hannah know that the next morning...

Sam was gonna pop the question whether she was hungover on ices or not!

We spent the summer apart, Hannah in Driggs ID working/enjoying a summer off and Sam in Morgantown, WV, for his second year of his residency. In August, Hannah joined Sam in WV to work as a veterinarian at her first vet job and we said cheers to the start of our east coast adventure together! Thanks to the mom's for moving her butt out there in a janky ass Uhaul! We barely made it but we were all excited to be reunited as a family, especially David. Josh was still hiding/transitioning to another 4 legged at this point, so she was on top of the fridge...
