Ceremony & Reception

Where is the ceremony?

The ceremony will take place at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, located in the heart of historic Old Town Charleston. The address is 120 Broad Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

When should I arrive for the ceremony?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 2:00 pm. We kindly recommend that guests arrive by 1:30 pm to allow time for seating and to fully enjoy the cathedral's stunning Gothic architecture and rich history before the ceremony begins.

How long will the ceremony last?

The ceremony will include a full wedding Mass with Catholic communion, lasting around 45 minutes to an hour. We’re so grateful to have you join us for this sacred and special moment. If you are not Catholic, you are warmly invited to participate in the prayers and music. During communion, you may remain seated or come forward for a blessing from the priest by simply crossing your arms over your chest. Above all, we want everyone to feel comfortable and included throughout the ceremony. Simply put: Long enough to feel meaningful, but short enough that you won’t regret wearing those heels!

Is It Okay To Take Pictures With Our Cameras And Phones During The Wedding?

Our beautiful cathedral has a strict no-phone, no-photo policy during the ceremony, so we kindly ask you to keep your phones tucked away and just enjoy the moment with us. But before the ceremony begins or at the reception? Go wild! We’d love for you to capture the fun and share your favorite shots—just don’t forget to tag us! #ForeverADependent

(This is a joke, y’all—Hannah’s just following in her mom’s footsteps. Military dad, military husband… what can we say? Some families pass down heirlooms—we pass down Tricare and base access.)

What happens after the ceremony?

After the ceremony, guests will proceed outside to witness the bride and groom passing through the saber bearer arch, a military tradition that not only honors the groom's active duty in the United States military but also officially welcomes the bride into the Air Force family. Following the saber arch, family members are invited to remain at the church for formal photographs with the couple, while friends are welcome to head to the Francis Marion to enjoy the start of cocktail hour. Once photos conclude, the couple and their families will join everyone at the reception venue, where cocktail hour will officially begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing to celebrate the night away!

Where’s the reception?

The reception will be held in the Colonial Ballroom at the Francis Marion Hotel, a Charleston landmark known for its elegant charm and rich history. Located in the heart of historic Charleston, the hotel has been hosting unforgettable events since 1924. With its classic Southern architecture, sophisticated interiors, and stunning views of Marion Square, it offers the perfect setting for an evening of celebration. After the ceremony and photos, we’ll all take a short walk to the hotel, where cocktail hour will kick off a night filled with dinner, dancing, and joyous memories! The Francis Marion Hotel is located at 387 King Street.

What time does the reception start?

Cocktail hour begins at 4 pm, so get ready to eat, drink, and dance like nobody’s watching (but we definitely will be).
