Additional Tips & Tricks for Europe

Book an overnight flight! If you leave the US in the late afternoon or early evening, you will arrive to Europe the following morning. This can be great to get some rest on the plan, and help with overall jet lag.

Provide adequate time to adjust from jet lag. Your body will want to rest once you arrive in Europe, but DON’T LET YOURSELF! Plan for a more casual day and go to bed early.

Ground. This helps you connect with the earth’s energy and restore your circadian rhythm to release jet lag. Touch the grass, trees, etc.

Make sure to pack some snacks. Your 8 hour flight will have meals, but you may want additional items on the plane, for once you land, or throughout your travels - Remember, many things in Europe don’t open until 10 AM!

Restaurant Etiquette - If you ask for water, specify if you want tap. If you don’t, they will bring you pricier bottled water. Also, if a restaurant sets out bread or olives while you’re waiting for your food, these are NOT free. Politely say no thank you when your server places them on your table. Tipping is known to be rude. Only leave a few euros if it was SUPERB. Lastly, servers want to respect your experience and time with friends/family at the restaurant. They don’t regularly check in, and often you need to flag down your server for an order, check, etc.

Pickpocketing is very common. Keep your belongings close to you and in an inner bag pocket!

Get great walking shoes. Europe is known for it’s walkable cities, and many activities are on foot.

Athleisure is looked down on in Europe. People normally only wear this if they are actively working out or on their way to the gym. Typical attire is sneakers, jeans, and a top.

Buy an outlet adapter. Outlets in Europe are not compatible with US chargers. Make sure to buy one listed for Europe as there are multiple versions for various continents. Check out some versions here!
