Our Wedding

Neither of us really remembers the exact moment we met, but we do remember the first time we hung out. Jesse invited Hannah over, and little did she know, his entire family was there. Feeling nervous and overwhelmed, she almost fainted! But despite the nerves, it turned into a night full of laughs and easy conversation, and from then on, there was no turning back. It’s funny how everything clicked after that – from feeling so out of place to realizing we were meant to be.

How we met...

On Christmas Day 2024, Jesse popped the question in the coziest way possible – in his family home, by the Christmas tree, both of them wearing matching Grinch pajamas. Jesse completely blacked out in the moment, but Hannah couldn’t stop crying from pure happiness. It was intimate, full of love, and completely unforgettable – a perfect reflection of their unique story.

The Proposal...

Hannah and Jesse’s engagement has been shaped not only by joy and excitement, but by deep resilience and unwavering love. During this season, they faced profound hardships together — including the heartbreaking loss of Hannah’s father and the emotional challenges surrounding Jesse’s relationship with his maternal family. Jesse has also been a great support for Hannah as she navigates a recent diagnosis. Through grief, uncertainty, and moments that tested them both individually and as a couple, they chose one another again and again. These experiences strengthened their bond, deepened their compassion, and reaffirmed their commitment to building a life rooted in understanding, honesty, and love. Their journey to this day is a testament to standing together through life’s hardest moments — hand in hand, with grace and courage.

Wedding planning has been a journey of teamwork, patience, and love for Hannah and Jesse. From big decisions to the smallest details, every step has been shaped by thoughtful conversations, shared laughs, and a lot of learning along the way. Planning this day wasn’t just about creating a beautiful celebration — it was about building something together, navigating choices as a team, and staying grounded in what truly matters. Jim has known Hannah since the day she was born and has been a cherished family friend throughout her life. Hard to believe this photo was Hannah and Jim many years ago. With years of experience as a wedding officiant, he brings warmth, wisdom, and a personal touch to every ceremony he leads. Jim met Hannah’s late father, Ken, during their first “big boy” job. Jim attended many of awesome barbecues in the Smith backyard, and Ken made a mentionable appearance as the witness to the wedding of Jim and his lovely wife, Rinette. Hannah fondly remembers Jim crossing the finish line during his first Ironman! His deep connection to Hannah makes him the perfect person to officiate this special day, celebrating the love and commitment between her and Jesse.

Vanessa was Hannah's best friend throughout her time at Western University, and they quickly became partners in crime. From late-night study sessions to movie nights in Hannah's apartment living room, Vanessa always knew how to make Hannah laugh—even when things got stressful. Vanessa has always been a friend Hannah could lean on. She always is there for Hannah and has a huge heart. With her infectious energy and knack for turning any situation into a funny story, Vanessa has been the perfect balance of support and humor throughout their friendship. Hannah is beyond excited to have her by her side on this special day, ready to bring her trademark laugh and energy to the celebration!

Alexa and Hannah go back to the days of elementary school. Known for her honesty and reliability, Alexa has always been the person Hannah turns to for advice and guidance. As Hannah's most trusted advisor and confidant, Alexa's wisdom and support have been invaluable throughout their journey together. Alexa always tells Hannah what she needs to hear, rather than what she wants to. Alexa is straightforward and consistent. She is always true to herself, a trait that Hannah admires. Hannah is thrilled to have Alexa by her side on this special day, celebrating a bond that has stood the test of time.

Kelsey has been by Hannah's side since high school, seeing her through both the brightest and the darkest times. Though life and past partners caused them to drift apart for a while, they’ve reconnected in recent years, proving that true friendship always finds its way back. Kelsey has never failed to remind Hannah of her love, always saying "I love you" because, as she wisely says, "you never know how long you have left with someone." Her authenticity, loyalty, and support are the definition of true friendship. Having Kelsey by her side on this special day is a reflection of their lasting bond and the love that has only grown stronger over time.

Harley is so special to us, not only because of who he is, but because of where he comes from. As the son of Hannah’s childhood best friend, Avery — who also grew up as Hannah’s neighbour — he represents years of friendship, shared childhood memories, and a bond that has truly grown across generations. Watching Harley grow up has been a reminder of how meaningful lifelong connections can be, and having him be part of our wedding day feels like a beautiful full-circle moment. He brings so much light, joy, and love with him, and we couldn’t imagine this day without him.

Myra holds a very special place in our hearts. Hannah has had the joy of babysitting her for years and being right there as she learned, grew, and discovered her confidence — including teaching her how to swim. Watching Myra become the kind, joyful, and spirited little human she is today has been one of the greatest gifts, and having her as our flower girl feels incredibly meaningful. She isn’t just part of our wedding day — she’s part of our story.

Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of our outdoor wedding. 🌿 Venue &amp; AtmosphereOur wedding will take place in a beautiful rural setting. Expect a relaxed, intimate, and love-filled evening surrounded by nature. Since we’ll be outdoors, we encourage guests to dress comfortably for the weather and terrain.
