This Christmas Market is open during the Christmas Season until Boxing Day. Enjoy roasted cinnamon almonds, a breathtaking view of Aalborg city atop of the ten story tall ferris wheel, a ride on the merry go round, or even a hot dog as big as you!
A stone's throw from the heart of the city lies the charming C.W. Obels Plads, which, with its embrace of small cafes and inviting restaurants, forms the perfect setting for the ice rink. Throughout the winter season, it provides a space for countless laughs and bruises and is a gathering place for all ice-skating enthusiasts - both residents of Aalborg and others. With the many dining and drinking options within reach, you can easily grab a nice cup of coffee or a delicious lunch after activities on the ice rink. In December, you can combine a skate on the ice rink with a visit to the Christmas market on Gammeltorv, which is located next to the square.

The Friss Shopping Center is a multi-story mall containing various specialty shops perfect to get a souvenir as well as holding a very affordable parking garage. We recommend being careful when parking near pillars - as some can be very tight for American cars.
This lovely modern art museum is a perfect way to spend a day - learning about the artistic history of Denmark.
Historical viking burial site! We completely recommend visiting this UNESCO heritage center.
The "Gråbrodrekloster Museet" is an underground museum 3 m below one of the busiest pedestrian streets, Algade in Aalborg. In the museum, the history of the Franciscan monastery is told as well as the history of a. o. the market place, the unknown churches and the city houses, which had to make way for the friars' monastery. The museum shows impressive ruins of the monastery, skeletons from the cemeteries and many fine findings from the city of Aalborg's Viking and medieval past.
Aalborg Historiske Museum tells the history of the city and its surroundings through the latest 1000 years. A special attraction is Aalborgstuen from 1602, which is undoubtedly the most well-preserved civil Renaissance interior in the country. The comprehensive permanent exhibitions also include a large collection of locally produced silverware and glass. Throughout the year you will see different special exhibitions, primarily including items from our own storerooms.
It is open from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM (17:00).
Musical Hall for orchestral performances by the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra. It is right on the scenic Aalborg pier, and hosts a very fine dining hall within overlooking the somber December waters of the North Sea.
I do not recommend going here unless you like sad animals.
Heard of the Sydney Opera House? A Dane, Jørn Utzon, designed it! At the Utzon Centre, you can explore his works and enjoy exhibitions on ground-breaking Nordic architecture and design. The Utzon Centre also works with social sustainability for children and young people, and the core of their exhibitions is that materials and more must be recycled.
Den Gammel By, otherwise known as The Old City, has preserved multiple buildings ranging from the 500's upwards. Step into Danish history, walk through houses over a thousand years old, and interact with historical reinactors who actually practice the same skills used in day to day life during the time periods they work within - skills rapidly vanishing from this world which you can learn from them!
This historical as well as artistic museum takes you on a journey through the history of Denmark from the Neolithic to present day - often with traveling specialty exhibits. We have been multiple times as a couple, and each time could spend hours wandering from open until close. It is a bit of a drive or bus travel, but worth it for a day trip.
This historical museum is a walk's distance from the Copenhagen Airport, and has a gorgeous indoor greenhouse for their front lobby containing many exotic plants.
The National Museum of Denmark. During this time, they shall also have a special on ancient Viking Sorceresses.

The world renowned Tivoli Gardens feature a year round amusement park, Christmas Market, gorgeous light show in the evening, and is right next to the National Museum close to the Copenhagen Airport.
Tivoli is the third oldest operating amusement park in the world, dating back to 1843.
Dyrehavsbakken, or simply Bakken (The Deer Park Hill or simply The Hill), is the worlds oldest operating amusement park, having been active since 1583. It's not as famous as Tivoli. Of the two we also recommend Tivoli.
Skagen is a historic town for Denmark, which started out as a small fishing village and turned into a dominating center of artistic culture towards the end of the 1800's following the Danish British War. As the northern most tip of Denmark, from the tip of Skagen you can see England, Sweden, and Norway! Perhaps you will even see Puffins and Seal babies!
Near the marina, the Skagens Museum exhibits works by the Skagen Painters, who were inspired by the area's light and landscape. The Local History Archive, in the former courthouse, illustrates the town’s history and maritime heritage. On Skagen’s northeastern outskirts, Grenen Beach is at the convergence of the Skagerrak and Kattegat seas. You can see many gorgeous, historical art pieces here as well as enjoy the beer garden.
This Church is over 500 years old, and surrounded by a forest full of ancient viking burial mounds.
Voergaard is open december 5-7 at 10 to 16 for Christmas at the castle! Explore this gorgeous European castle for Christmas feeling the festive cheer which spans throughout the years!

Although we would recommend visiting Sweden, Norway, or the Alps which are each a day's journey from Denmark for skiing, the best place to ski in Denmark to many is Hedeland. The artificial ski slope itself was constructed in the mid-1980s and is served by 3 lifts, two lifts on the left and a children’s lift on the right. The capacity of the lifts is around 1800 people an hour. The hill is 45 metres high and 282 metres long.
Experience an "old fashioned" Danish Ice cream from Guf & Kugler, which has several times won the award for Denmarks Best Ice Cream Parlour! In the Ice Cream bar you will find homemade ice cream, belgian waffles and cones - all completely organic!
And you've got to try it with some Guf on top, a Danish specialty for Ice Creams. Pictured above is Healy's first time ever trying it - and falling in love with it.
