The Arch is a STL classic! They have a new museum at the base with the history of the area (think Gateway to the West/ Lewis and Clark). You can ride to the top for a view of downtown. Caution if you are claustrophobic though, as the cars to get to the top are tiny.
Union Station has just been redone! It now boasts new restaurants, a ferris wheel, a carousel, and a brand new aquarium.
Forest Park is a great place to spend the day. It is home to the zoo, the art museum, the boat house, the science center and planetarium, and the jewel box greenhouse, in addition to ample fields and picnic sites. Heather recommends visiting the Degas dancer statue at the art museum (especially on a hot day!)
For anyone looking for a bite to eat, Pappy's is the best BBQ in STL. Be prepared to wait in a long line, but it is worth the wait! Dean's favorite are the ribs.
If you want to experience the local STL beer scene (and don't want to travel downtown to the Anheuser-Busch Brewery), this is a nearby option in Midtown.
It doesn't get more STL than Anheuser-Busch and the world famous clydesdales! You can enjoy food and drinks in the biergarten or sign up for a free brewery tour.
Ted Drewes is the place to satisfy your sweet tooth. Order a concrete with any number of mix-ins and call yourself a STL native. Dean's favorite is anything with peanut butter.
Locally owned restaurant chain Syberg's is the place to go to watch sports and eat chicken wings. Heather's favorite is the chicken strip salad.
