As many of you already know, Willow and I magically met online thousands of miles apart. We actually have one of my maids of honour, Regan, to thank for that! We were still in the COVID pandemic and I was prepping to move back to the UK. She was over one night telling me about one of her Hinge dates and it made me think, maybe I should re-download the app as well. I wasn't planning to look for a partner in Detroit, but I would like to date again once I moved back to London. So I downloaded the app, set my location to London, and away we went! One day as I was mindlessly swiping through, I came across Willow's profile. Not only was he the cutest thing I had ever seen, but his profile made me immediately say yes. A person who likes tea, animals, the outdoors, and traveling??? I knew I couldn't lose that one, so I sent him a special rose to make sure he would see my profile and within an hour we had matched. I was so excited. I remember running down the stairs at my friend Elena's house yelling that the cute hinge human had matched me back. From that moment on, we never went a day without talking. We wrecked our sleep schedules just to make sure we could battle the time difference between the US and UK. Three weeks later, I asked him to be my official boyfriend, to which he said that he would prefer to ask me in person; the old fashioned way. Disappointed, I agreed to this, only to wake up to a text the next morning saying: Forget it, life is short. Will you be my girlfriend?; and here we are almost almost two years later.
It's true. Life is short, and I am so glad I have found someone to love and share it with. Thank you to all of you in advance for sharing in our special day. We'll see you there! I'll be the one in white.
Heather
When we first met, I could only see her face through a screen or read her words on paper. I worked as a postman then and always got excited when I received a letter we would send one to each other almost every week. Due to the five-hour time gap, I'd stay awake talking to her every night. I was counting down the days until we finally met in person. Finally, it came the 19th of August 2021. I met Heather at the airport and we embraced, and I never wanted to let go. She was shorter than I expected but perfect in every way. Her energetic manner was the complete opposite of my shy introverted self, yet it was perfect. We lay awake talking together all night and I never felt so at home, I went to work the next morning with butterflies in my stomach. I never thought meeting someone online and falling in love over a hundred miles away was possible but we did and I’d do it all over again.
