Heather & Robert

July 19, 2024 • Mineola, NY

On a cold late November evening, Heather and Robert began their journey. More unconventional than most, the two matched on Facebook Dating (Thanks Zuckerberg), while Robert was on his way to the Luke Combs concert and Heather was sitting at home in her pajamas. They began their small talk, but being that Robert was at the concert the conversation did not pick up until the following day. Heather offered Robert her number and the connection began to grow, learning about one another each day. Their likes, dislikes, pros, cons, strengths, and weaknesses were put out onto the table, until they met each other for the first time on FaceTime.

After a few weeks of Facetime hot chocolate dates, the two finally met in person on January 16, 2022, at Manor Oktoberfest in Forest Hills. Due to the previous FaceTime meetings, the conversation flowed well, but Robert could not get enough of the Bavarian pretzel and coconut shrimp while Heather could barely touch her food. The lack of food intake was a defense mechanism by Heather as her nerves began to take over midway through the date. Three more dates in a span of ten days ensued after the initial meeting, spanning from seafood, pizza, and Lenny’s clam bar.

The turning point of the relationship was the day Robert sprung upon having Heather join him and his family to celebrate his birthday. This was a big step for them both, as Robert is not keen on having people meet his family and Heather was frantic wondering if she wanted to go or not. After consulting with many of her friends, Heather agreed to come by.

She brought her famous chocolate chip cookies with her as she walked in the front door, more nervous than ever before. She refused to take off her coat and relax for the first hour of being in the house, showing another defense mechanism that she had. After being warmed up by Roberts parents and grandmother, she finally took off the coat, but would not relinquish it to be hung up holding it for dear life as if she would die if she didn’t have it. As the day progressed, she got more and more comfortable, and Robert knew this could be his person. At the conclusion of the evening while driving Heather home, the infamous conversation of “where do we go from here” arose. Being nervous about not wanting to ruin something good, Robert was hesitant to put a title on it, because he did not want anything to change. After a back-and-forth conversation, the two decided to make it “official” on February 12, 2022.

From then on, the connection continued to grow, and they realized something that can resonate with them both, was they wanted to be treated correctly and enjoy life together. With that, came the shared passion of loving to travel, try different food places, and explore the world around them. In their time together, Robert and Heather have traveled to Albany, Washington D.C., Virginia, Baltimore, Disney, Rochester, and Philadelphia. Creating memories, trying the local cuisines, and taking in what the world has to offer them.

Through all this time, Robert created a plan on how to propose to Heather and ask her to be his wife all on the sneak. With the help of his family and Heather’s best friend, super bowl Sunday 2023 was the day he would propose to her. Blinded by the fact that super bowl seemed to be more important to Robert than anything, Heather did not have the slightest clue as to what would happen that day. Being their anniversary together, the two went for brunch at the Harrison in Floral Park. While at brunch, the family and Heather’s best friend was setting up the back yard for the proposal. Somehow being able to eat a full brunch, Robert didn’t feel the nerves until he pulled up back to his house to park the car. With the ring in his jacket pocket, Robert escorted Heather to his backyard where she would be greeted with an ensemble of décor. Robert got down on one knee and asked Heather to marry him on February 12, 2023.

Since then, they could not be more excited to plan a wedding to celebrate each other with their friends and family.

We cannot wait to see everyone on our special day, and we hope this website reflects our love for each other and everyone who is important to us.
