What if I want to bring my children?
We are planning an adults-only wedding celebration. However, we are working with Rincón Beach Resort to arrange child care for Saturday during the wedding celebration. If this is something you're interested in, please reach out and we'll share information with you.
Is there a room block?
Yes. All travel-related information, including information on our room block at Rincón Beach Resort, can be found in the "Travel" tab of this website.
Do I need a valid passport?
No. Puerto Rico is a US territory, so flying there is no different than any other domestic flight.
Will I need to be able to speak Spanish?
Puerto Ricans speak Spanish as their first language. The further outside of the San Juan metro area you go, the less English you're going to hear. That said, Rincón is a touristy resort area. You should be able to get by with English in most resorts and touristy areas.
If unsure, simply ask politely "Do you speak English?" before immediately talking to someone you don't know.
Do I really need a rental car?
Yes. There is very little public transit on the island and you will not be able to get to the Rincón area from San Juan without a car. If you personally don't like to, don't want to, or cannot drive, we recommend arranging a carpool with another guest.
Is the wedding in Añasco or Rincón?
Rincón Beach Resort is near the touristy Rincón area, but it has a mailing address of Añasco. So technically we'll be getting married in the Añasco municipality. Early on in our planning, we used Rincón on the Save the Dates. Apologies for any confusion.
What is the weather like in Rincón in January?
Highs in the mid-80s, lows in the mid-60s Fahrenheit.
What does "dressy casual" mean?
For the Rehearsal Dinner: examples include sundresses, chinos or dress shorts, and short sleeve collared shirts. Please no T-shirts and jeans, and refrain from wearing pink.
What does "beach cocktail" mean?
For the Wedding Celebration: it's a warm tropical island, so think anything semi-formal but also light-and-airy. Cocktail dresses, button-down shirts with dress pants, or a jacket without a tie are all great. There's no need to wear a gown or a full suit and tie, unless you want to!
Our only restriction, please do not wear pink.
What is a cookie table?
A cookie table is a wedding tradition, typically associated with the Pittsburgh/western Pennsylvania area. In addition to a wedding cake, a large table with different cookies is presented to guests at the wedding reception. Cookies are usually prepared by family and close friends in advance of the reception.
Do I have to contribute to the cookie table?
Nobody is obligated to contribute! We simply wanted to include a little bit of Pittsburgh tradition in our wedding celebration and give guests an opportunity to contribute if they'd like to. We know that making cookies ahead of long distance travel won't be easy, so please do not stress if you cannot contribute due to difficult logistics. We will have the cookie table regardless of guests' ability to contribute. Simply indicate when you RSVP if you'd like to contribute and we'll reach out to coordinate.
