Heena & Eric met in Columbus, Ohio. Quite possibly the greatest city in the world. We met like many modern-day couples, on one of the many dating apps. Eric wanted to meet over drinks or coffee, but in true Heena form, she was too impatient for that. So we compromised and got ice cream. We wandered around Grandview talking for hours that first night and we both knew that we were interested in seeing each other again. There is a long story about how we had met previously playing volleyball at the Ohio State sand courts. Heena loves to tell this story so I am sure that she covered it in her version of events. We both were looking for more than the typical tinder fling so we quickly followed that date up with a few more and then she finally mustered up the courage to ask me to be her boyfriend. Almost 5 years later and she still reminds me of this fact.

We have covered a lot of life. Covid, moving to a new city, and merging our cultures together has been quite the ride. Now, I am excited to have you all come be a part of the next step in Italy.

Heena & Eric matched on Tinder. Heena didn’t really pay a lot of attention to this dating app except for the occasional super liker. They messaged each other for a few days until the night before Eric was leaving for a bachelor party. She needed to know if he had substance, so she asked him out to ice-cream that night. And of course, they went to Jeni's in Columbus, Ohio for their first date on June 13th, 2018.

It was a beautiful summer day. The sun was bright and Heena arrived only a few minutes late. She scanned the entrance from across the street to see if she could see this ginger bearded man. Instead, she saw a clean shaven gora (white guy) with shades, one hand in his pocket, the other holding his phone. He smiled at her, relieving her of the need to find her date.

Their "nice to meet you" hug wasn't awkward. It was as if they had known each other from before. They stepped in line to get the perfect treat for the summer day. Their chit-chat about favorite ice-cream flavors came easy. Eric handed the cashier his credit card, despite Heena shoving hers forward. He insisted on paying with the casual “well this just means you’ll have to go out with me again.” Smooth.

They decided to walk up and down Grandview Ave, a street filled with coffee shops, restaurants, and couples walking their dogs. These were regular stomping grounds for both of them but the conversation was new, exciting, keeping them both on their heels.

They were enthralled with each other. They walked around the town for hours, asking questions, cracking jokes, genuinely intrigued by one another. Halfway through their date, Eric pondered whether they've met before. Heena's poor memory failed her yet again. Eric asked, "Did you play sand volleyball on the Ohio State Courts last summer?" Heena instantly recalled when she had boldly asked a random group of guys whether she could join their sand volleyball game, despite her un-athleticism. It clicked. Eric was the cute guy behind a hideous ginger beard. Eric confirmed that he was the one.

It turns out Eric recognized Heena from the very first moment he saw her on Tinder. That is why he SuperLiked her. He just knew how to play it cool.

About a year later, Eric got all romantical and shared something to Heena that forever changed her. Eric admitted that when Heena stepped into the sand courts, he felt an instant spark. A connection he could not put into words but somehow he knew she was different.

Now, over 5 years later, Eric still thinks she's one-of-a-kind. Not sure if that's good or bad but look, he's rolling with it, so let's give the man what he wants.
