Picture it: Chicago, December 17th, 2018. That night two strangers met for the first time and fell head over sneakers in love. Holly and Simon spent the previous few years fruitlessly scrolling through online dating, hoping against hope that they would find each other. Then one day in a fateful moment forever after referred to as The Changing of the Filters, Holly changed her OkCupid settings to include men up to 5 years older than her. 24 hours later, Holly and Simon were matched. Simon was the first to reach out. After much thought, he put finger to keyboard and sent the first message: “I’m sure you are very good at Mario Kart 64, but there’s no way you’d beat me at it.”

The conversation flowed from there. After a week of banter and jokes that were incredibly hilarious to us and probably no one else, Simon suggested a first date at his standard first date spot: Revolution Brewery. They talked for 3 hours and knew they could have talked for more. After discovering a mutual love of travel, all things nerdy and karaoke, the rest is history! Looking back on that date later, we both knew that we had met the love of our lives. We were both right.

The next 3 years were a whirlwind. We survived gallbladders, COVID, moving in together, moving CATS in together, 8 hour road trips, and more. Then on May the 4th(be with you), 2021 Simon popped the question at a pier overlooking the ocean on Honolulu Hawaii, and Holly said yes.

The time from December 17th, 2018 till now have been the very best of both of our lives, and we can’t wait for this exciting new chapter to begin. Thank you for joining us and celebrating our still unfolding love story!
