Part of what makes Basalt so special is how tucked away it is in the Rocky Mountains. We know that this adds both joy and extra planning to a trip! Thank you and we are so excited that you're thinking about joining us. Here are some tips and tricks for getting there:
Aspen Airport (20 minutes to Basalt)
Aspen Airport is hand-down the most convenient option in terms of travel to and from airports. However, this can make flights expensive. If you can find a cost-effective flight in, this would be the way to go! If you are flying in to Aspen, try and find a flight landing Morning - Late Afternoon as flights landing after the sun goes down have a higher chance of being cancelled or delayed.
Grand Junction Airport (~ 1.5 hours to Basalt)
GJT is an easy hour and half to downtown Basalt and usually one of the cheaper options for flights. United and American are likely your best bet for airlines flying in.
Eagle/Vail Airport (1 hour to Basalt)
EGE is a great option if you are looking to fly directly in to the area but Aspen flights may be too expensive. Airlines with non-stop flights include American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways. Car rentals, taxis and shuttle services are available at the airport but be sure to schedule ahead of time or at least plan ahead!
Denver Airport (~ 3.5 hours to Basalt)
Most likely wherever you are coming from, Denver will be your cheapest option. It will take at least 3.5 hours to drive to the mountains from Denver. Car rentals, taxis and shuttle services are available at the airport but be sure to schedule ahead of time or at least plan ahead!
PLAN AHEAD! Uber and Lyft are virtually non-existent in Basalt and the surrounding areas. We highly recommend renting a car or carpooling with other guests during your time in Colorado! This will make your stay in the Roaring Fork Valley so much more enjoyable since it will allow you to easily access outdoor activities, explore the area and help make transportation to/from your chosen airport much easier.
Also, a lot of the places and things we have recommended in our "Basalt/Aspen Guide" are only accessible by car. Trust us they are worth it!
We have reserved a room block at the Element where our guests get a discount through MAY 31st! Unless you'd prefer an airbnb, we recommend booking a room here! We will be providing transportation to the wedding for our guests from the Element. More info on transportation to come.
