We met when Ian was still working at his first real job out of school, and Devin was juggling college, a job as the site director at a nonprofit, and a job at a cafe.
Devin was on his break from the cafe, and Ian was at the Old State Capitol Farmers Market when a mutual acquaintance introduced us. A few weeks later, we went on our first date. We went out to lunch and then wandered through Washington Park, sharing our lives and dreams.
Our first kiss was a few weeks later, in a Michael Dunbar sculpture in the statue garden Devin helped build in Historic Enos Park.
Since then, a lot has changed. We bought, remodeled, and sold a house. We've welcomed and said goodbye to pets. There have been new jobs, new cars, new friends, births, deaths, and weddings.
This is the fourth time we've planned this wedding. We had it all set, but then there was a global pandemic, so we rescheduled. And then we rescheduled again. And when the pandemic ended, we realized we didn't want to spend the rest of our lives in Springfield, Illinois, so we moved to Southern California.
Since then, it's been a wild ride, but we decided that after being together for 10 years (and legally married for five), it was time to actually have a wedding. We're so glad to have you join us!
