Andrei and Iryna met in first year of university while studying engineering at UBC in Vancouver. They both lived in the same residence building - Korea UBC House. They both were active within their house residence association volunteering and met at house council training! They happened to sit beside each other and wouldn't leave each other's side that day chatting.

Iryna asked Andrei if he'd like a cookie and he said yes. Later, Andrei asked Iryna if she'd like to put up her feet beside his on a chair (clearly a sign that the girl likes you, just ask Andrei from 2015) and she said yes. That's all it took for them to connect. Andrei later started inviting Iryna to have tea, and Iryna invited Andrei for fruit. Shortly after, they went on their first date.

Andrei and Iryna put in effort to stay connected throughout internships on opposite sides of the country during their undergrad, and then later only looked for opportunities where they could be in the same city. They even went on academic exchange to Singapore together! Their relationship has always been a priority and they have been together for 9 years as of October 2024.

Andrei and Iryna prioritize respect, communication and understanding in their relationship. They like going on dates and surprising each other! Some things they enjoy to do together are hiking, playing golf, competing in board games, travelling, going to spin classes and meditating. They also love hanging out with their friends and family as their relationships and community are priority for them! They share many values, such as family, health, exercise, career success, play and relaxation. Calgary is now their permanent home.
