Travel & Accommodations
Do I need a passport to travel to Guatemala?
Yes! Since this is an international trip, you will need a valid passport. However, U.S. citizens do not need a visa—your passport alone will allow entry into Guatemala. If you are traveling on a non-U.S. passport, please reach out to us so we can help check if a visa is required for your country.
Which airport should I fly into?
You’ll need to book your flight to La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City.
Will there be transportation from the airport to Antigua?
Yes! We’re helping coordinate shuttles from the airport to either the shared houses or your hotel in Antigua. We recommend using this shuttle service since it allows guests arriving at similar times to share a ride and save on costs. If you prefer to arrange your own transportation, that’s totally fine too!
Where is everyone staying? Can I stay somewhere else?
Most of us will be staying in two shared rental houses, but if you’d prefer a private hotel, that’s completely fine! We’ve listed some recommended hotels under the Travel section of the website.
Do I need to book my own hotel?
Yes—if you’re not staying in the shared house, you’ll need to book your own hotel separately.
How do I get around Antigua?
Antigua is a very walkable city, and most people will explore on foot. However, Ubers and tuk-tuks (small motorized taxis) are also available if needed.
Wedding & Events
What should I wear to the wedding?
The dress code is black tie optional / formal / cocktail attire—so dress up and have fun with it! The bridal party will be wearing brown, but guests are welcome to wear any color they like.
Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?
A bit of both! The ceremony will take place inside the Santa Clara Ruins, while the reception will be held in their outdoor garden. Expect temperatures to be in the low to mid-70s during the day.
Are kids welcome at the wedding?
This will be an adults-only wedding, as we won’t have any kid-friendly activities planned. However, if this presents a challenge for you, please reach out—we’d be happy to help figure something out!
What’s the weather like in Guatemala in December?
December in Guatemala is typically sunny and pleasant, with temperatures in the low to mid-70s during the day and dropping to the mid-50s at night. There is very little chance of rain!
What activities are planned before and after the wedding?
All pre- and post-wedding activities are listed on the Trip Itinerary page on the website. There are plenty of options, from brunch and walking tours to coffee tastings and even a volcano hike!
Do I have to attend all the planned activities?
Not at all! We’re just excited to have you there to celebrate, and we totally understand that everyone has different interests. All activities (including the post-wedding itinerary) are completely optional, so feel free to join in on what sounds fun to you!
Food & Drinks
Will there be options for dietary restrictions at the wedding?
Yes! If you have any dietary restrictions, please make sure to note them on your RSVP so we can accommodate your needs.
Is there an open bar at the wedding?
Yes! There will be an open bar during the wedding and after-party. Cheers! 🍾
Will meals be provided outside of the wedding day?
We’ll be hosting a welcome brunch on Saturday (12/13) for all guests. Additionally, we’ve made a group reservation for dinner at Panza Verde that night, since it can be hard to find last-minute reservations for a large group. The dinner is optional, and everyone will cover their own meal.
Packing & Preparation
Is there anything culturally I should be aware of in Guatemala?
Not really! The main thing to note is that street vendors may approach you—this is very common, so don’t be alarmed. Also, many people in Antigua speak English, so don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it.
What kind of clothing should I pack?
We recommend bringing:
✅ Casual, comfortable clothes—you’ll be walking a lot!
✅ Comfortable shoes for exploring the city.
✅ A swimsuit—the houses have pools!
✅ Layers—it gets cooler at night, so a light cardigan or jacket is a good idea.
✅ A couple of dressier outfits for nice dinners.
✅ Hiking gear (if you're staying for the Acatenango Volcano hike).
Do I need any vaccinations or travel insurance?
No vaccinations or travel insurance are required.
Is the tap water safe to drink?
We do not recommend drinking tap water, as it may upset your stomach if you’re not used to it. Bottled water is widely available!
