If you're using this trip down to the south west as an opportunity for a short break, here's some inspiration below on some of our favourite things to do.
Walking from Lee Bay to Morte Point Year 11 Summer.
Morte Point to Bull Point is our favourite walk in North Devon. If you're lucky you might spot some seals on the way. Park in Morthoe carpark and treat yourself after to a pint from the Ship Aground.

Harry's first trip to North Devon and a ride on the funicular railway!
Park at the Valley of the Rocks and walk over the hill into Lynton! Mooch around the shops and buy a return ticket on the funicular railway. Go into Lynmouth and when you return to the car, go to Mother Meldrew's cafe for a cream tea.

Woolacombe beach with friends before goodbyes for university.
Don't let the crowds put you off. On a beautiful day there is no better place than Woolacombe with kilometres of open beach and lovely surf! Treat yourself to the best sausage roll at the Porthole and a sundowner on the beach. Or walk further down to the equally lovely Putsborough with even better waves and a good cafe. Run or slide down the dunes with reckless abandon! Look out for the art deco houses on the dunes, Issy plans to move in.

Broadsands beach. Park at Watermouth Cove and go to the Storm in a teacup cafe. Walk across the camping site and turn left at the top of the hill. Continue until you find a stairway down to Broadsands and enjoy a lovely afternoon on a pebble beach.

There are so many "secret" beaches in North Devon to choose from. On a day off season you can find you're the only people here. Choose from Lee Bay (park in Lee and take a turn around the church shop which sell a load of arts and crafts then climb through the rocks to the secret beach); Grunta Beach (between Woolacombe & Morthoe), Risk your life and scale your way down to Rockham by Bull Point Lighthouse, Broadsands beach which could be mistaken for South East Asia on a good day (about 500 steps to get to it).

Esplanade fish bar in Lynmouth. Here we thought our flat purchase was about to fall through and we were both SO stressed!
Don't miss out on the best fish and chips going and maybe one of the most picturesque towns on the planet. Take the National Trust watersmeet circular walk and reward yourself with a drink at the Rising Sun. Or, alternatively, take the car to the Hunter's Inn where you can keep your eyes peeled for some Peacocks!
10th August 2024 Barricane Beach Curry - Best served with a proposal
Picture of Harry here was right before we got engaged!
Sri lankan curry served on Barricane beach nestled between Woolacombe & Coombesgate - great view of Lundy Island & Wales on a clear day. Take a boat trip to Lundy Island if you have the time and go puffin spotting or have a beer at the island's one pub.
