You can get to North Devon via train - the nearest station is Barnstaple, accessible from the slowest train from Exeter imaginable! Sit back and enjoy the view.
There's a good bus service from the station but it will be useful to have a car to get around the area. Especially if you'd like to explore.
There is plenty of parking in West Down car park but if you don't have a car, please reach out to Harry and he will find a kind groomsman to give you a lift.
There will be parking at the bottom of the lane at Buttercombe on the left. There is quite a steep hill up to the house so if you have accessibility requirements please feel free to drive up to the house.
If you are staying on Bradwell Road or in Willingcott Valley, it will be possible to walk home from the reception via the Tarka Trail path. This is about a 0.7km walk, plenty of torches to go round.
- Shuttle bus: There is a shuttle bus running from 11pm until 2am who can drive you home to wherever you’re staying as long as you’re local!
- Walk: If you miss the last shuttle and you’re staying at Willingcott valley or at Lower Buttercombe Farm cottages you can take an adventure down the path to walk home (0.7k to Willingcott or literally 0.1k to Lower Buttercombe Farm), plenty of torches to go around.
Option 1 Driving: Drive and park in or near West Down carpark (by the Crown Inn on Thorne Park Road, EX34 8NG)
Option 2 Shuttle Bus: There will be 2 shuttle buses on the morning operating from 10am-11am to do ferrying to the church, they will then be shuttling after the service back to the reception at Buttercombe. NB If you are not staying at Willingcott Valley but would love a lift from your accommodation please let me know and I’ll make sure you’re looked after. Closer to the time I will share the lucky Groomsman/Brother who will look after any stragglers on the day.
