Joe and Isabelle met officially at Lee’s Halloween party! They hit it off and their first official date was at Joe’s college apartment because restaurants were still closed due to COVID. Joe put up twinkle lights all around the table and lit candles. They popped some champagne and they cooked carbonara together. It was the first of many great dates for the two of them.

Joe and Isabelle both share a love for travel, and the first trip they went on together was to visit Isabelle's sister Alexis for her birthday in Philadelphia. They had lots of fun exploring the city together and celebrating Alexis!

It's thought that a Spartan is fated to marry a sweetheart if they kiss under the Beaumont Tower at midnight. Joe planned a romantic midnight picnic for the two of them and they shared a kiss at midnight. From this picnic, the "mystery date" tradition was created. Each month, Isabelle and Joe take turns planning a unique surprise date for the other. Joe and Isabelle have done this every month since.

Isabelle graduated from MSU and accepted her first nursing job working neuro/oncology. Joe had one more year to finish up at MSU so they moved into their first apartment together in Lansing.

After Joe graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from MSU, he made plans to propose. He proposed on Belle Isle in Detroit, which was where they had one of their mystery dates in the year before. Isabelle was so excited and of course said yes and they celebrated with a night out in Detroit.
