What is the dress code?
The dress code for the wedding is cocktail attire.
Are the ceremony and reception in the same location?
Yes. The ceremony and reception are in the same location.
Will there be an open bar?
Yes! Although, it is limited to beer and wine, as liquor is not allowed at the event.
Where should we bring/send our wedding gift?
Please do not feel obligated to purchase a gift. The best gift we could have is for you to be present at the wedding! If you would like to give us a gift, we would prefer them to be sent to our apartment directly since the wedding is in North Carolina and we are still living in Texas.
Where are good places to stay in the area?
There are many airbnb's around with great views, but a lot of them have decorating that looks like a caricature of real styles in the area. I have listed the best places I've found to stay in the 'Travel' tab of this website. They also seemed more authentic and nice.
Is there cell service/wifi at the venue?
Cell service can be spotty for certain cell phone carriers in the mountains. The venue does have two secure wi-fi networks for guests.
Is the venue handicap accessible?
The venue has handicap accessibility throughout the entire property including a designated parking area, ramps and sidewalks, ADA-compliant restrooms.
What's the weather typically like in the area?
Generally, summer temperatures reach into the upper 80's and cool to 60's in the evenings. Since it will be the very beginning of summer, it's possible the weather could dip into the 50's at night.
Is there parking available at the venue?
Yes. There are about 80 parking spots available.
How is the drive to the venue?
If you are not used to mountain roads, I would recommend not driving there yourself. The last stretch of the route includes relatively steep gravel roads and there are a lot of winding roads.
What is the closest airport?
The closest airport to the venue is the Asheville Airport (AVL), which is about an hour away from the venue.
What is there to do if we have extra time to explore?
In Whittier, you can find great hiking trails and whitewater rafting. If you are going to be in the area for multiple days, it may be more fun to stay in Asheville, and come into Whittier closer to the wedding. Asheville has countless delicious restaurants, fun activities, tours, and sites.
