Do I need any vaccinations to travel to South Africa?

No, however the recommendations are to have your routine vaccinations up to date. If you plan on doing a safari, check in with your family doctor for anything you may need.

What language is spoken in Cape Town?

Despite the fact that South Africa has 12 official languages, English is the most widely spoken in Cape Town.

When should I arrive in South Africa?

We recommend arriving on Nov 15th, no later than November 16th (two days before the wedding) to adjust to the timezone and climate.

Is the area safe to walk around? Any neighbourhoods to avoid?

Cape Town is wonderful to explore, but like any major city, it’s important to stay aware. We recommend not walking alone at night and sticking to well-populated areas. If you’re unsure about a neighbourhood or activity, feel free to ask us or do a quick search beforehand — some spots may seem inviting but aren’t ideal for tourists. When in doubt, check in and stay smart!

What's the weather like in November?

November marks the beginning of the summer season in South Africa. The climate is warm with plenty of sun and temperatures usually ranging from 21-29 Degrees Celcius. However it can be variable and get quite chilly in the evenings and early mornings. Pack summer clothes but bring a light jacket for the breeze or nights.

Can I bring a plus one?

To ensure an intimate and enjoyable celebration, we kindly ask that only the guests listed on the invitation attend. We promise there will be plenty of great company, delicious food, and awkward dance moves to keep you entertained!

Will the ceremony/reception be indoors or outdoors?

We plan to have the ceremony outdoors, and the reception indoors.

Is there a hotel block?

There are no hotel blocks available, so we recommend booking accommodation as soon as possible.

What is the drinking limit for driving in South Africa?

South Africa has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to drinking and driving. Your blood may not have an alcohol content of more than 0.05% (this means that even after one small drink you could be over the limit).

Tax Refund in Cape town?

Tourists in South Africa can take advantage of a tax refund on purchases, which is most worthwhile if you’re making bigger purchases. Be sure to save your receipts and keep the items easily accessible, as you’ll need to show them at the airport when departing. The refund is typically processed 2–3 months after you leave the country.
