Airport: You will fly into Honolulu International Airport (Daniel K Inouye International Airport) which is code HNL.
From there it is a 20-30 minute drive to both Waikiki or the Four Seasons Resort (they are in opposite directions). For reference on the map, you can see Waikiki to the left of Diamond Head in the South. Honolulu Airport is marked to the left of Waikiki and on the South West part of the Island you can see a turtle where Ko Olina (The Four Seasons Resort) is located.
Time Zone: The east coast is 6 hours ahead of Hawaii. 12 noon EST = 6am HST (in May, since they do not observe daylight savings)
1. Wear layers!
Jaclyn's go-to airplane outfit: Soft leggings (for compression but coziness) and my comfiest bra. On top, a Negative Underwear whipped long sleeve shirt. Over that, a warm fuzzy but not too bulky zippy hoodie that I can take off if hot but put my hood up if cold. Shoes are Birks. I pack socks and a light scarf in my purse for added warmth if needed (or if the airport has decided to close down the Pre-Check/Clear lines and I need to take my shoes off).
Cory's go-to airplane outfit: Lululemon Pace Breaker shorts with Outdoor Voices sweatpants. On Running tshirt and pullover. Slip on shoes with socks.
2. Bring sleep essentials! We swear by the Ostrich pillow light. Hands down the best airplane pillow. Jaclyn also brings earplugs and an eye mask.
3. Get Global Entry/Pre-Check/Clear before traveling. The general boarding lines these days can get REALLY long. If this won't be your only travel over the next year, we recommend enrolling in one of those speed options to get through security faster. Check if your credit card reimburses the fee - some do!
4. Bring a book (or your Kindle). If you need to catch up on reading, the airplane is a great place to do so. You'll either be fully entertained for hours or be put right to sleep! Win-win. Waikiki is oddly bereft of any book stores so if you always need a book with you, I definitely recommend bringing your Kindle so you don't need to tote around multiple physical books.
