Our Wedding

Though they shared many of the same classes during their time at SUNY Albany, Jake and Saretta’s story truly began junior year. By then, Jake had realized that no, she wasn’t just coincidentally everywhere he was, and Saretta had begun to notice that maybe he really was as smart and funny as he seemed. While working on their theses, a group chat was created for peer reviews within their seminar. Jake saw this as the perfect opportunity to finally connect with Saretta and was excited to have her number and a reason to work together. That excitement was short-lived, however, when the first draft was shared and another classmate’s name appeared on the paper. Jake quickly realized he had made an innocent, albeit memorable, mistake: he wasn’t flirting with Saretta after all. Even though the plan didn’t go as intended, it sparked a genuine friendship that grew naturally over the months that followed. As time passed, that friendship began to turn into something more, even if neither was quite ready to make the first move. Jake started taking the bus with Saretta—despite having a car—just to spend a little extra time together, and Saretta would linger after class, knowing Jake had another nearby, hoping to run into him. Eventually, with a little encouragement from a friend and a touch of liquid courage, Saretta decided it was time for clarity. She gave Jake a simple ultimatum: “take me on a date or stop leading me on”.Jake didn’t hesitate, and the two went on their first date in Albany, both knowing it was an important moment. Saretta’s roommate at the time even joked, “I feel like this date will determine whether you’re meant to be friends—or together forever,” and she couldn’t have been more right. That summer, Jake and Saretta became inseparable. They made things official, fell in love, explored Albany and the Capital District, and seamlessly integrated into each other’s lives. After graduating in 2019, both pursued master’s degrees at Boston University, with Jake returning to Boston and Saretta staying in Albany for another year. They made long distance work, visiting whenever they could, and were finally reunited when Saretta landed an internship in Boston. Her new home was a house full of rotating roommates - Josh, Shawn, and Kim. In November 2020, Jake and Saretta took their next big step together, moving into their first apartment in Newton, Massachusetts, where they still live today. Fast forward to June 2025, when Jake planned the surprise of a lifetime and proposed to Saretta at Kittery Beach in Maine. The celebration continued with both families waiting nearby, followed by a weekend full of memories in Ogunquit. Over the past seven years, Jake and Saretta have stood by each other through countless milestones and firsts, supporting one another every step of the way as they build their lives side by side. They are beyond excited to continue their journey together and to celebrate their love with the people who mean the most to them on October 4, 2026.

Bobby is Saretta’s eldest brother — the Welshman— and someone who can light up any room with his quick wit and infectious humor. Even with the long distance, he’s a constant source of joy and support, and someone we treasure deeply. We’re so happy to have him here with us.

What it is: One of the oldest and biggest agricultural fairs in New England — carnival rides, giant pumpkin weigh-offs, livestock shows, food, entertainment. Why go: If you want a full-on fair vibe (rides, fair food, animals, old-school charm), this is the go-to. Great option for the whole family to have some fun! Notes: We recommend buying tickets ahead of time through their website. The fair is extremely popular locally and can be crowded at times.

Topsfield Fair

What it is: Salem goes all-in on October with events, festivals, markets, haunted-history tours, and general autumn/Halloween celebration vibes. Why go: If you want a spooky-but-fun kind of weekend: walking tours, artisan markets, street parades and lots of seasonal energy. Great for anyone! Notes: Salem gets very busy this time of year, so plan parking, museum visits, tours (or other reservations) ahead of time. For the full experience, expect to walk quite a bit! The commuter rail station is a walkable distance from Essex St. and can offer an easy route in/out of the city. While you're there, check out Village Tavern, Notch Brewing, or Finz for some food or drinks!

Salem, MA – Early October Fall / Halloween-Season Events

What to do: Pumpkin shopping or apple picking, orchard touring, baked goods, and seasonal family-friendly fall events like hayrides and activities for kids. Why go: It’s a little less “theme-park busy” than some of the bigger farms, and can be a more relaxed way to enjoy fall vibes.

What it is:&nbsp;A charming waterfront district filled with art galleries, local shops, and seaside restaurants set along a narrow, walkable peninsula. Perfect for a quick coastal stroll with great views and classic New England charm. There are many food options nearby for a quick bite or drinks. Why Go: You’ll find a mix of independent galleries, handmade jewelry, nautical-themed gifts, souvenirs, art pieces, prints, and more — all in a quaint, coastal-town atmosphere. Great if you like browsing unique, local-maker shops. Notes: You get there via the town’s Dock Square / Main Street area, then walk onto the Neck peninsula

Newbury Street &amp; Back Bay/Boston CommonStroll the brownstone-lined streets, grab coffee, shop boutiques, or people-watch at outdoor cafés. We love Buttermilk &amp; Bourbon, Life Alive, and many others! Walk into the common to see the heart of the city. Faneuil Hall / Quincy MarketClassic Boston—street performers, quick bites, and easy access to historic sites nearby. Walk down the Rose Kennedy greenway if you have the chance, Boston spent a lot of money on this... North End (Italian District)Great for dinner (or just cannoli). Hanover Street is lively and cozy in the fall. We love Carmelina's, Trattoria il Panino, Florentine Cafe and Bacco. Seaport DistrictWaterfront bars, great seafood, rooftop spots, and pretty sunset views over the harbor. Check out Envoy Rooftop for great views, F1 Arcade for racing fun, or stroll through the shops. Stop by Kanes donuts before heading into the seaport for some good donuts. Isabella Stewart Gardner MuseumA stunning, courtyard-centered museum that feels like stepping into a different world. Book tickets ahead of time! Museum of Fine Arts (MFA)One of the best art museums in the country—big, quiet, and perfect for a few hours indoors. Boston Common → Beacon Hill WalkA quick, scenic stroll up through the Common and Public Garden into Beacon Hill’s picturesque brick streets. When you are in Beacon Hill, stop into their unique Tatte or The Sevens for a Narragansett. Notes: Look for garage parking through the SpotHero app for a significant discount.
