In the Ben Lomond area, Big Basin Redwoods is California’s oldest state park. It offers the largest continuous strand of ancient coastal redwoods south of San Francisco.

Roaring Camp

Roaring Camp is mostly targeted to children, but consider taking a genuine steam powered train through the redwoods and up the hill to view, up close and personal, the redwood fairy rings.

The ride is 30 minutes each way in an open or closed top (ride in the open car to experience the true beauty and wonder of these majestic trees) and you have 15 minutes to wander the fairy rings.

The Mystery Spot
