Our Wedding

It all began in February 2014, when the stars aligned and brought us together in a way that can only be described as fate. We were both 19 and in our sophomore year of college, Jacqueline at the University of San Francisco and Jon at the California Maritime Academy. Two of our friends matched on Tinder and we joined them for a small party. While our friends’ match didn’t go anywhere, something magical happened that night—we found each other. Jon’s cheesy request for a “good luck kiss” before a round of Guitar Hero set the tone for our relationship: playful, spontaneous, and full of unexpected moments that make us smile to this day. The very next weekend, Valentine’s Day, we went ice skating—a first date that turned out to be the beginning of something neither of us could have imagined. From that point on, we were inseparable. That summer, Jon left for his school’s summer cruise, leaving us miles apart and what we thought might be the end of our fling. When Jon returned to California, he came straight to Santa Cruz to see me and told me he was falling in love. To say I was speechless is an understatement. In fact I was dead silent for and Jon had to ask for a response which was, finally, a resounding “me too!” For two more years, we continued to build a relationship full of joy, adventure, and growth. We spent every weekend together, navigating college life side by side. Between studying during the week and adventuring on the weekends, our relationship quickly grew into something special. We traveled back and forth between San Francisco and Vallejo, creating countless memories—exploring the city, going to concerts, and soaking up the energy of college life with our friends. However, as we graduated and stepped into the next chapter of life, we decided to go our separate ways, giving each other the time and space to grow as individuals. Though we weren’t together, we never truly let go of each other, staying in touch and quietly holding onto the connection that had always felt so special. Fast forward six years to 2022: the timing was finally right, and we decided to give our love story another chance. In 2023, we moved in together in Daly City, blending not just our lives but our families—Jon’s dog, Moose, and Jacqueline’s dog, Olive, who quickly became inseparable. It felt like everything had come full circle, and we were finally where we were meant to be. In August 2024, during a birthday trip to Hawaii, Jon planned a proposal that we will both never forget. Nothing actually went according to plan, which fits with us and our story so well. Jon planned a helicopter tour which was cancelled due to a hurricane and the ring didn’t show up on time. He made the most of the situation and on a beautiful beach in Maui, got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. As we prepare to celebrate our wedding in September 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for the love and support of our family and friends. You’ve been with us through every twist and turn of our journey, and we can’t wait to celebrate this next chapter together with all of you.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?

Please plan to arrive at the venue at 3:00PM, but no later than 3:10PM or we give your dinner to Moose and Olive.

WHERE ARE THE CEREMONY AND RECEPTION?

The wedding Ceremony through Reception will all be on the same property. Distance between locations is minor and without hills or elevation. All locations are accessible, to include accessible bathrooms, though dinner will be over grass and means to access should be considered but please reach out if there are any questions or requests.

WHERE SHOULD I STAY﻿?

We recommend staying at the Hilton Santa Cruz Scotts Valley, and have arranged a room block with end-of-night transportation to ensure the comfort of our out of town guests. We will be offering shuttles from the wedding venue to the afterparty and to the Hilton.

Ride shares like Uber or Lyft will be unreliable leaving the wedding venue if you are staying elsewhere, but reception and pickups should be fine if leaving from the Hilton to alternate accommodations.

GETTING TO AND FROM THE VENUE

Our wish is that all guests have freedom to enjoy the event as best they can. If this involves drinking alcohol, which will be present throughout the day, we demand that methods of transportation are planned in advance to ensure that safe transit is guaranteed.

To assist in this, the organized shuttle service will take guests from the wedding venue to the after party and recommended Hilton Hotel in Scotts Valley. Both locations will be easier to use ride share services in comparison to the wedding location. If needed, the property owner will allow vehicles to stay over night and be picked up in the morning. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.

HOW SHOULD I GET TO BEN LOMOND?

The closest airport is San Jose Mineta International Airport. Other nearby airports include San Francisco International Airport (SFO), Oakland International Airport (OAK) and Monterey Regional Airport. If you are flying in we recommend to rent a car, as event location is somewhat remote. There may be busses to Scotts Valley (consider contacting the hotel), which would be fine to take if you organize weekend rides with other guests.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?

September in the Santa Cruz mountains can get hot during the day, average of 85F, and cool off at night, to an average of 50F. With such a wide range of temperatures we ask our guests to check weather reports prior to the event for more accurate information.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Cocktail attire. The ceremony will be on a well groomed, compact path in the redwoods, dinner will be on a lawn, and reception will be in a building. Your comfort should be first in consideration of footwear.

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS

We will be serving a buffet-style dinner with a variety of choices to accommodate most basic dietary preferences. If you have strict dietary requirements or ANY allergies, please reach out to Jacqueline or Jon.

ARE CHILDREN INVITED TO THE WEDDING?

While we both adore children, we would like to have an adults only affair. However, we understand that our friends and family are of that age where leaving children may not be feasible. As of now, we'd like to restrict children under 18 to immediate family, but please let us know if you are unable to arrange childcare for the evening or have requests due to special circumstances. Our priority is to have our invited guests be present for our special day, so exceptions are preferred to total absence if no other options are available.

WILL TRANSPORTATION BE PROVIDED TO AND FROM THE WEDDING VENUE?

Shuttles will be provided after the reception and will take guests from the venue to the afterparty and the Hilton. Transportation will not be provided to the venue. There is on-site parking at the venue, and you are able to leave your car overnight as needed. Additionally, Ubers and Lyfts should be able to take you from Santa Cruz or Scotts Valley to the venue. Please do not rely on rideshare from the venue after the reception.

Shuttles will take guests from the wedding venue to the wedding After-Party (Bruno's Bar and Grill) and recommended hotel (Hilton Scotts Valley) which are about 1.5 miles away from each other. Shuttles will run from wedding end (9PM) through After Party End (1 AM).

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, is a natural sanctuary boasting 1,750 acres of old-growth redwood trees. The park features stunning landscapes with diverse ecosystems including lush forests and riparian areas along the San Lorenzo River. Visitors can explore over 20 miles of hiking trails or visit the nature center to learn about local wildlife and ecology. It also offers picnic spots, camping facilities as well as seasonal fishing opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts.

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

Travel over trestles, through towering redwood groves and up a winding narrow-gauge grade to the summit of Bear Mountain as conductors narrate the history of Roaring Camp, the railroad and the forest. In the 1880s, narrow-gauge steam locomotives were used to haul giant redwood logs out of the mountains. Roaring Camp’s steam engines date from 1890 and are among the oldest and most authentically preserved narrow-gauge steam engines providing regularly scheduled passenger service in America.

This park and beach is an excellent vantage point for viewing shore birds, migrating whales, as well as&nbsp;seals and otters playing offshore. Further along the beach, public access&nbsp;tidepools offer a glimpse of life beneath the sea in this Marine Protected Area. Low tides reveal sea stars, shore crabs, sea anemones, and other colorful ocean life.&nbsp;The park also includes a large area of coastal scrub and grasslands, with bright native wildflowers in the spring.

Natural Bridges State Beach

The Mystery Spot is a gravitational anomaly&nbsp;located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz, California. It is a circular area of effect around 150 feet or 46 meters in diameter. Within the Mystery Spot you will be stunned as your perceptions of the laws of physics and gravity are questioned. But don't take our word for it, come and decide for yourself!

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a classic seaside amusement park located along a beautiful sandy beach in a friendly beach town. The Boardwalk features more than 40 rides and attractions including two National Historic Landmarks: the world-famous 1924 Giant Dipper wooden roller coaster and the beautiful 1911 Looff Carousel, plus many scream-inducing thrill rides, gentle kiddie rides, casual restaurants, gift shops, games, indoor arcades, and miniature golf.
