A longtime favorite for New Yorkers since 1927, Playland is the only Art Deco amusement park in America. It includes picnic areas, beaches, ice skating rinks, swimming pools and fun rides. Playland's long Pier was made even more famous when the movie Big starring Tom Hanks was filmed there in the eighties.
Our family friend, Sheri Jordan (who will be dancing with her husband MJ at our wedding), is the Executive Director of this wonderful museum which provides an interesting history of the area.
Originally the private home of a wealthy textile merchant in 1853, the Bruce Museum now offers fine and decorative art, natural history and anthropology.

Marshlands Conservancy is a 147-acre wildlife sanctuary composed of diverse habitats. Forest, meadow, salt marsh and shore can be explored and appreciated here. There are three miles of trails and one-half mile of shoreline along the Long Island Sound.
Located along the Atlantic migratory flyway, Marshlands is an excellent birdwatching location. More than 230 species have been sighted. The Marshlands salt marsh is one of few in New York accessible to the public for study and enjoyment.
