This story really began in 2015 when one of Shane’s very best friends and college roommate had a business class with Jade (shoutout BP). They coincidentally all ended up living in neighboring townhouse complexes that shared a common lawn area and both sets of roommates became friends with each other. This is where Shane & Jade’s friendship began. They spent a few afternoons playing beer die or pong, evenings grilling outside and some late nights just hanging out and chatting.

It can sound cliché to say that they started out as just friends but that’s really how their relationship began. Although they moved away from those townhomes for their senior years of college, the group continued to stay in touch. Jade and Shane would see each other at the campus bars every once in a while and planned a few nights hanging out at each other’s houses. They all celebrated each other’s college graduations, but just like that college was over.

After graduation Jade ended up moving to Salem to work for the Oregon Garden Resort while Shane stayed in Eugene working at Umpqua Bank. They kept in touch every so often and remained friends but their story really “restarted” when Jade came down to Eugene for a Duck football game in the fall of 2017. It was the full post-grad experience where they got to pretend they were in college for a weekend and catch up with people they hadn’t seen since graduation. This particular weekend can definitely be pinpointed as the moment when their friendship started to shift into something new.

The two definitely took things slow in the beginning. They were both a little bit shy and also unsure of who should make the first “move” seeing as they had been friends for so long. Once both realized they were on the same page, their relationship quickly moved on from there. They found themselves in a relationship with a bit of distance between them. They started spending almost every weekend in Eugene going to duck games, FaceTiming during the week and having a lot of talks about the future.

Since then Jade and Shane have had many memorable moments and milestones together. They lived in Salem for a short stint together where they got their first dog Graham, they got their first apartment back in Portland, supported each other through new jobs, enjoyed more sporting events and concerts than they could count, traveled, bought their first townhome and most importantly, got engaged!

They’re both so incredibly excited to start this next chapter of their lives in one of their favorite places with all of their favorite people. See you in Oceanside!
